botany teacher lying?

Hi, I’ve grown outside before but i really want to try growing inside. the only thing that scares me is that my botany teacher told me that if you have an HPS or MH light the electric companies will be able to tell from a certain frequency or something and they report them to the police then they drive by your house and scan it with a light detector to see if you have a grow light and they will get a search warrant to see if your using it illegally. i feel like the only reason he told us that is because my entire botany class is filled with potheads and he knows it because some of them that have been caught at school have to go down to the office to take drug tests haha. He hints at us being there to just learn to grow pot. but anyways, has anyone heard of this before or should i not worry about it?

he also told us that once a month police go to the grow shops and hydroponic stores and get a list of everyone that bought something there that month to make sure nothing illegal is going on.

Thanks

your teacher kicks ass---hes right about the cops being able to scan your house but they have to have a probable cause to do that they cant just out of the blue decide to scan your house and about the lighting issue the electric company cant tell the frequeny if your using a small HPS or Metal halid i think- dont hold me that but if that was the case nobody would be able to grow in there house without getting caught-- i would purchase a mini HPS light that shouldt arouse any suspicion

lol cops can't just waltz into an establishment and demand a list of patrons. they can ask politely, but any smart business owner knows better than that. tell your teacher to check out the 4th amendment. jesus. furthermore, simply owning and running an hid light is not even close to "probable cause". they have to have other shit on you before any judge will issue a warrent for some silly shit like that. i'm assuming this is high school because i can't imagine any college professor daring to say anything so stupid. as far as the frequency scan thing, i honestly don't know if that's real or not, but as i already mentioned, running a ballast is not illegal. thanks for the giggle though.

Teacher's blowing smoke. Technology makes lots of things POSSIBLE, but when it comes to the REAL god in this worl, money, they(elect comps or cops) aren't going to waste their dwindling resources that way unless they have another reason.

thanks, now i know i shouldnt worry about that. but as for getting with the program, i am 18 now and i am going to get my med card soon...but....that leads to my other questions. ive searched and found a lot of helpful information, but 2 quick questions. i know the upfront cost for the card, but is there a yearly cost in having a card? and is the card going to be something on insurance or is it seperate and confidential?
Thanks

I renew yearly. $75 for the card or $250 for caregiver rec. As for insurance, my wife is the HR manager for a Rest Home and has tried to run it through for terminally ill patients at their request. Insurance dropped both for substance abuse.

When you get a rec, that is between you and the Dr. It would take one hell of a court order to get those records provided you have a good Dr.

Magnetic Ballast...Has the weird noticeable electric signature....But its in everything that's electronic really......Try turning off everything electronic in your bedroom, unplug and remove phones from the room,,,sleep like that for a week you will notice a differents ,,unless your wasted every night lol then forget it,,,,,,,the Magnetic Ballast and even the regular ballast I think fucks with TVs,cameras, phones, well what iv experienced
With the right tech I think it would be possible to detect,But the police probley only have a device sensitive enough to detect large amount to make it a useful tool

I don't think the cops can detect a frequency given off by an HPS or MH light. I believe they used to search for the infrared (heat) given off by such lights to look for grow ops. Good thing the courts said they can't do that without a warrant. Same thing with the custy lists at Hydro shops. They need to get at least a subpoena, if not a warrant, to see those documents. And they would prove nothing but that you garden indoors. You could be growing tomatoes for all they know.

Now if the cops see suspicious activity at your house, and can get a warrant to look at your infrared signature, and see you come out of a hydro store, and your electric bill is $500/month for a 1 bed apartment, well, then you have a problem.

I don't worry about FLIR (heat-cameras) or the amount of electricity I use, and see no reason to worry about this.

However in this world - if you have been awake - we are loosing all our privacy rights so fast we hardly notice.

What I AM afraid of is the wireless real-time power-meters, which means police can cooperate with power companies to get a list of EVERYBODY using HID-lighting 12 hours on and 12 hours off.

It's not easy to explain 12/12, and even if you could mask it, HID's have an unique signature when powering up.

Some time in the near future, police will not even bother with good old detective work, as facism will have provided them will all the power needed to do whatever they want (using 3rd party data from power-suppliers, phone and internett-suppliers etc).
