Bonsai Mother?

My plan is to grow a mother plant, and never flower her. She would be in soil and kept under 2 feet tall. I would use her to take clones from to keep a harvest cycle. Is this a reasonable plan? All input is appreciated. :bigjoint:

People usually use mother plants to take clones from... Yes. The "harvest cycle" you're referring to is called a Perpetual Harvest. Much info about Perpetual Harvests and taking clones can be foud here. Welcome to RIU :leaf:

yup thats what most people do is keep a mother plant to take clones from. however what you may want to do is grow a few plants first and then pick the strongest one to take a clone off of, then grow this clone into your mother plant. that way you know all your plants will be strong. also ive read you shouldnt keep the same mother plant for longer then a year.

You should rotate the mother plant every year or so, some claim if you dont you will see decreased vitality in the clones.

Personally i've not seen this but it seems reasonable.
