Big Game Hunters, Show Your Stuff

Before someone crawls up my butt for being a trophy hunter, I'll qualify this by saying I'm a meat hunter. I utilize every animal I harvest & if it happens to have nice horns or antlers then its a bonus. I've fed my family for over 25 years mostly on wild game & I have to say we eat good !
Here is a couple shots from last fall - the moose has a 46" spread (not a monster but Lots of fantastic eating). My Dall sheep is 36" with 13" bases and talk about tasty - some of the best meat you've ever eaten.
We'll start with that.
Peace
Where did you get that moose Eureka?

Yeah, it sucks... but hopefully the time you put in pays off. So your bow season just opened up? Our bow season just ended..Our gun season just came in saturday... it's in for 2 weeks.. 2 days. Then muzzle loader is in.. then bow season is back up til january something... Are your seasons similar?
my 1st bow opens in augest till sep. then rifle opensand stops in late nov. then late bow opens again in late nov till dec. complicated with all the what you can shoot in this area and that differs from this area and so on. you really have to be up on the regs here. i did get my flat head. this timeof the hunt in this area itook this deer is a hair tag area, any deer. my late bow elk starts next weekend. can't hardley wait for the day.. and that is going to be cow only.

A little note to everyone:KEEP UP ON GUN MAINTENENCE.--So for the past couple of weeks I have been hunting one particular whitetail. I've called him in a few times and bumped him a few so I really want this deer. He is a really heavy and dark 5x5. Today I finally get him to step out and give me a shot, but when I pull the trigger all I hear is CLICK, and off he goes. Apparently my firing pin was not moving all of the way or was slightly bound up. I know better too which probably makes it even worse on me. I wanted to scream, laugh, and cry all at the same time. I guess it was just another lesson learned the hard way. I still have four days left though. I thought I would post this just so noone else makes the same mistake. And no matter how experienced you are even the smallest mistake will screw you.
Happy Hunting to all.

Hey assholes, put your gun barrels in your mouths.
I'm pretty tired of the liberal bashing so I'll cut & paste an earlier response.

I ate moose tonite - what did you have?
I killed it, I processed it, and my family and I eat it. How is that wrong?

Whats wrong is picking up a bucket of chicken legs from KFC and pretending that because you didn't see it die, it didn't.

I think you are the fucking pussy that can't take responsibility for what you eat. Grow a set and harvest what you eat before you pretend to be above those of us that bring home food.
See you at Publix - NOT.

Any new pictures Greatwhitenorth?
Not much results yet this year. Sept in interior Alaska was pretty warm & I never did get a good look at an adult bull moose. They wern't talking or moving much so I didn't get a shot there. I did spot a beautiful silvertip grizzly (9ft plus easy) up high feeding on berries. I made a special trip into town & picked up a tag but didn't see him again. My archery goat tag didn't pan out because there is several feet of snow up there & its survival at that point. Our goat hang out in some VERY steep stuff, dump snow on top of it & you can die pretty easy.
It is the time of year to go shopping for blacktail - all the snow has driven the big boys down out of the high country so they are accessable now.

man i wish i could hunt i alwayz wanted to but never able to
1) Go hang out at your local Mom & Pop sporting goods store & figure out who's who. Lots of guys & gals that hunt are always looking for hunting partners.
2) Put an ad on Craigs list that you want to learn how.
I'd hook you up if you lived near me - most of us love to share our lifestyle.

Now that I think about it, check into blackpower guns. They are not considered "firearms" when it comes to buying & shipping so possibly you could hunt with one legally?
BTW, don't scoff at them too quickly - a quality modern inline muzzle loader with a good scope is deadly accurate out to 200 yds and beyond.
Just a thought.
Peace, GWN.
