you also dont really want to heat glass up even by boiling it unless you're gunna let it cool too properly..expanding contracting cracking and crying all go hand in hand.

even if room temp is too much cooler than what the pipe was when it intially came out can cause it to crackyeah dont even run cool water over it. just kich back and wait it out
edit: hot water bath for the soaking method.. but i like instant results, alch+salt or 420cleaners.

don't boil it like a fuckin potato..... a couple of minutes works. who the fuck would put cold water on hot glass? partial boiling might not make it sparkle, but it's free.

perhaps sir, but, doesn't the aspect of not having to buy chemicals and just the ease of just boiling it( with special care not to be a fucking dumbass) make boiling a good fast free way to clean ur shit???? anybody agree?i thought the thread was "best way to clean a bong" not "cheapest"

edit: Not shitting on the boiling method, ive seen hot water do wonders, however the alch as a cleaner and the salt as an abrassive works very well, and is dirt cheap...most people have both ingredients laying around the house as it is.. Just be sure to run water through after using any cleaner (unless ofcourse you only boiled it

boiling it seems to weaken your glass. i've watch my pipes fall over and over and never break, then i boil it to clean it, let it cool in the water and a day later it barely drops and shatters. FUCK BOILING. alcohol and salt is best and if your too broke or not a cheapass to buy a 2 dollar bottle of rubbing alcohol im sure a friend has some you can use

i feel the same way, however i think its more the cooling process that weakins it not the boiling
you need to have a seperate hot water bath and turn down the temperature gradually...and FUCK all that..

oh i drinks all my rubbing alcohol. so they don't sell me it anymore. not like a 212 degree boil man, some hot water mayne, and i do put the alky in there to clean it more. i said don't boil it like a fuckin potato. if you have like a triple blown piece you'll be straight. i understand like a thin piece of shit bong would get stressed, but my bong's the shizit.

my bongs are all 7mm thick 18.8/19mm glass on glass joints. they shall see no cooling stress on their tubes as i dont introduce the heated water factor.

thats a good question..
ive seen an acrylic bottle of 420 before, but not often.. i know regular 420 will make spider cracks the acrylic from experience... id say..some sort of all natural orange cleanser and a good water rinse, run a rag down the barrel after removing the slide (and bottom cap assuming there is one).
