Basement grow tent smell issue

Sounds like wasted time to me. Any downtime in the flower area adds up, a week here, a week there, all the sudden that's one less harvest per year.

My new plants go into my flower area within a few hours of the old ones coming out.
vent outside the house, lung room gets fresh out side air.good seal on the lung room.all fans get turned off before you enter so the negative pressure balances out.
please explain. I'm kinda lost. I'm wondering how the room gets fresh air from a sealed room? And when does it equal out?
If I vent outside the house, I have to pull into same chamber I'm creating a vacuum in.
Fresh air is super important by all means. But where I live, and others places I have lived. Most summers are hotter than my grow room.
So I learned to pull air from inside, but a fresh source if possible.
In fact I live in an area that is designated for farming and agricultural.
So in my case I pull air from our house system, and vent it back outside. Not to worried about the smell anymore, but I run a carbon filter anyway.
When it's 104degrees outside, you ain't pulling in outside air.
Live in an area with high rates of powdery mildew? Love to balance your humidity in your grow room, based on the weather outside....of your basement. Not I.
Another note. You may not get away with inside air like I do beacause I run LED's.
They stay cooler than HID so this is another thing to consider.

This is where situation dictates your plan. When I lived in Cali I could get away with pulling air in and pushing it out. I made a window seal box that I could close the window on, and seal the room still in the winters but still have outside source.
Here in Colorado I can't do that....not even close. So I run it the way I told you. Semi sealed. Which is even weirder.
But I have never had ANY type of infestation here, and only fungus gnats in CA....till I switched to promix. After that not a thing....and FYI ROOTs organic=gnat farm.
So I'm not saying what I do is the best way at all. It happens to work for me.
Chose what works for your situation.

Have a 5x5x7 tent in flower in the corner of my basement.2 600w led lights .I have a carbon filter on the outside of the tent on the ground filtering air pulling from the top hole of the tent. The bottom screen is open to take in fresh air.My basement is all open it is partial finished no rooms , very clean.I am having a problem with smell.I understand my setup may not be ideal and I need to make a few adjustments....I'm not taking In any fresh air besides what is being pulled from around my large basement...I've had a problem w.my last few runs at the end of flower as far as smell.I open the basement and it's like hitting a brick wall of dank.Once I get down the stairs its not as noticeable...almost as if the smell along with the warm air is rising and just sitting at the doorway.??? What recommendations or suggestions do you have.? I need help I'd like to correct this the right way so I can get back to my grow and not worry about the smell and blowing my cover.I do not want to exhaust outside however I can run a duct with a fan from outside for fresh air.Just not sure what I need to do for a permanent fix...Thanks
I ran a 5x5x7 tent as well for a while. In my case I never had smell issues until a year later when my filter was failing. I had the filter in the top of the tent connected to a duct fan that pulled air from the tent>filter>outside. In this way negative pressure was created so no smell ever escaped.

Also I ran my fan on full power at 400 cfm. When I dropped it lower, the negative pressure lowered as well and smell escaped

Look I have done what your doing for a long ass time and it never worked during those last few weeks of flowering. I was super paranoid about venting out of the house as I was afraid that smell would just be outside. But I recently tried venting out of the house because the smell was just way too much. I haven't had an issue since. There is no smell problem anymore. The filter removes like 95% of the smell so the air coming out the exhaust is not even noticeably smelly, but if you vent that back into your house that 5% just keeps building up and before you know it you can smell it when in the driveway.

Ya same here. Once I vented outside. Scrubbed of course the smell went away. Now of course I had to replace that lost air. I’m in an old house. Water heater and furnace have a pilot light. So once I added a 4” line to my lung room the smell disappeared. It’s the negative pressure that lets the stink out when you open the door. So I turn off all fans wait 10 min so pressure balances out then I enter. Seems to help. Just remember to turn it all back on. Lol
