ballast questions lol need help

sure the house (plug cord) goes as this... green plug wire gose to the green lamp wire. the black plug wire is to the orange mag/coil wire in first pic. white plug wire goes to white on mag/coil in first pic

And again, what is the spare wire color that is not used ? Scrape away the cosmoline if you need... I know you answered already, I just want to make sure...

Because right now, it sounds like it is wired up to 110 vac
color to black
white to white [whats on the other end color wise...]
ground good...

FYI:
I am going to be busy for a couple of hours if someone else wants to answer...

ok the spare wires that are not used are black, purple, and the (cream/peach/fade brown) are the only 3 wires not used. an all are white wires under the color sleves.and all are connected to the 8 wires from mag/coil.
(8) front wires mag/coil
-----black wire not used-----
-----purp wire not used-----
-----tan/peach/faded brown not used-----
-----orange wire-----------------------------black wire 3 prong plug
-----black/white-----big cap
-----yellow----to yellow small cap
-----white----to white lamp
-----white---to white 3 prong plug

the 4 wires back mag/coil.
----red----to black lamp
----white/redstripe----to white/red small cap
----black/white---to big cap
----blue---to blue small cap

these r all wires on mag/coil

after striping the color stuff of wire the wires r white lol.
the only things that r on wires are the small and big cap wires.

i hope this helps out

i picked up a mag ballast it says 240v on box in marker but it has a 3 prong plug so it fits into normal plug.
my qustion is how do i know for sure if its 240v or 120v?
i pluged it into my wall plug and it worked..but is it safe..
if its 240v can i make it 120v to work in my plug lol
what are my options for this??? heres my pics of the ballast so take a look pls..
In the first picture I'd like you to push the yellow cord into the two screw connector safe....
It's probably OK as is to run on 110vac u ground plug, if the circuit can handle it...
Not knowing the specifics of why an electric u ground [three prong plug] would be hooked to it without it being 110vac, IDK why a qualified guy would do that...
It worked on 110 vac when you pluged it in ... nothing blew up yet...
The color's spliced together seem logicial...and again it works... for now...

Just realize it pulls 1000 watts
a 15 amp plug on a 15 amp 'shared' breaker... not much else can be on that circuit

Ohms law:
watts divided by volts = amps
1000 divided by 110 = 9 + amps used on the max load of breaker...

I use my laser digital thermo to check the heat range of added equipment... don't let your unit overheat...
Good Luck....

hey sand would i be safe to run this light with a inlinefan 0.57 amps and a 2 small fans. on a 15 amp breaker?

If that's all there is on other load, then yes...

HOWEVER....
If Microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer are also on this circuit, then you WILL blow the breaker....

awesome ill put her together and keep a close eye on it. i really want to thank you for your time in helping with this issue. ur awesome .

awesome i hope I can do it on my own but i just looked a my breaker box and the shits full of 15amp breakers and some are together for 30amp i have 4x220 line going in/out of the box ill post u a pick so you can see what im dealing with lol

here is my 200amp with 2x100amp together at top box lol IMG-20130117-00280.jpgon this side it has 9x15amp single, 2x40amp togetherIMG-20130117-00282.jpgon this side 4x15amp single, 2x15amp pair, and 2 30amp togetherIMG-20130117-00281.jpg

Lets, 'Dedicate' a breaker, without changing the wire...

Say, for instance you want to 'use' a spare bedroom for your grow room. That bed room, may 'share' through the walls, it's power. [Power= lighting/outlets/motors]
Plug something into the outlet in that bedroom, like a light, and turn it on.

Now go to your breaker panel, and turn off one at a time, your breakers, "off, then on", until your grow room test light goes off.
Turn all other breakers off [just for 5 minutes, wont be a problem], MARK this breaker, Mark it "Grow"...
Grab your flash light also...

Now, the test light is on, for your room, that is the only breaker on, [double check], and leave it on, and walk around house with another light, plugging the light you are holding in your hand, into every other outlet. Every outlet/light that is still on, mark it with a magic marker/masking tape. All outlets that stay on with your new grow room, take note, and mark them [mark them, we want to rid grow room of all other load]...
Try and find other places for any stuff you have plugged into your grow room circuit.
Turn breakers back on.
Say, the three outlets in new grow room, along with the light switch, and center light, plus 5 or 6 outlets in other rooms, are all on the same breaker.
You have isolated this circuit. Look at breaker size, should be 15 or 20 amp. ALL lighting branch circuits in your house are either on 120vac/15 amp, or 20 amp breakers. All 15 amp breakers should have 14 AWG wire attached, and all 20 amp breakers should have 12 AWG wire attached.
You now have a dedicated breaker for your grow. 15, or 20 amps direct to your room, a non shared circuit. Having a dedicated circuit will eliminate or ease your fear of blowing breakers. Blow a breaker, loose a crop... lets not go there...

You, can do it....

sweet so i found out what plugs r what and to be honest im scared lol i dont think shit is wired rite. in the second pic the bottom orange wire is on a 15 amp 1 plug thats it. if u look in pics 2-3 i have 5x220 comming outa box ?? i only need 2 maybe 3. and u said 14 awg on a 15 amp... lol i dont think im gonna fuck with it i think im gonna do lots of learnig first... to much and i honestly dont know enough.
