Autopots

Im getting on this train with ya. Ran 15 sungolds and eirlooms on the deck with soil out of the bag. Wasn't focused enough but i can tell ya at the end they did get starved for calcium... everything else seemed on point though.... i say this next part with respect i hope you don't have an led difficiency.... lots of old timers here having to dial decades old tried and true recipes to accommodate new lighting tech...
Heck yeah lets go
I'm relatively new to this actually, Here to learn ❤
Whats "LED Deficiency"?

So disheartening and frustrating... All in autopots, all look different... How do you fix this problem when they all get the same food??? I'm about ready to retire...20211110_150712.jpg20211110_150707.jpg20211110_150612.jpg20211110_150635.jpg20211110_150647.jpg20211110_150702.jpg

Take what I say with a grain of salt as I'm on my 2nd grow, but I don't think you have a serious problem. Looks like potassium deficiency or magnesium/calcium. Magnesium will show as interveinal chlorosis with a gradual lightening between the veins and then following that the tips will start to die/brown and that will make its way up the leaves. Magnesium is mobile, so it ill show likely at the lower leaves or larger fan leaves receiving the most light. Magnesium often shows first as it's a sign of a general nutrient problem, so it could be a couple things. Those spots look like a calcium deficiency. The first photo with tips turned down/dying looks like nute burn to me. It does look like new growth is showing the deficiency so perhaps it's potassium and not magnesium.

I'm doing water only so I address each pot through top watering. This isn't recommended if you're using salts as they collect in the top of the pot.

Also, if you overdo calcium, or your PH is off it can lock out other nutrients like magnesium or potassium.

I would probably do a foliar spray of Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate (Epsom) 1-2 TBSP per gallon, on leaves, top and bottom and stems. A very fine mist not a soaking. Do this right as lights go out to prevent burn. It's very low risk, and if this works, you know what your issue is. This stage in flower needs a lot of magnesium and calcium. You can do this every 3-4 days maybe 3 times, then I would give them a rinse so it doesn't build up. This is really low risk and very effective. My growmie just did this 3 days ago and his mag issue just went away, leaves are green again,

I would also definitely look at your PH, both res and tray. If that's an issue, adjust. That's the first thing I'd check.

Also, check your lights, they might be so high the plant cant get nutrients it needs for the energy it's drawing in, especially if it's LED. Someone suggested this to me earlier in this thread. VPD as well. Everything is all this weird connected system, one thing off and we see issues. I only know this because both of my grows have has mid grow crisis.

I'm curious what other more experienced people have to say!

Hope I'm being helpful and please remember, I'm in my first year.

You cannot use that stuff in your setup; it will block the tubing and it's also going to go stale really fast in the reservoir. GH trio works without any problems. I've also used GH's fulvic supplement with no issues.

This is what I have been waiting to hear!!! I thank you immensely!!!

Considering that you can't top feed in autopots(as far as I know), do I add Epsom salt to the reservoir (12gal)??? If so, is it 1g to the gal???

I would do a foliar, 2 tsp per gallon, completely dissolved. Spray as a light mist above, below leaves, and on stems. Light mist not a soaking. Do this right at lights out. You can domit again every e days, no lore than 3 times without rinsing them off with a spray of fresh water. This will show you if its magnesium but if it isn't it wont throw youd soil balance off by overloading mag and causing worse probs. I use magnesium sulfate heptahydrate from buildasoil. But magnesium sulfate is great too. But you can top water, I do it once a week. In this case, foliar makes better sense.

You can top feed in Autopot. Just turn you res off and drain the valve holder on the base of the autopot so there is no water in it and what I do is use one of those heavy plastic plant risers with drainage holes. Like the photo and put you pot on that and then you can water from top and the runoff will collect in the base of the autopot if you need to top feed. Is it the correct way no but it works if needed.

I use these ;) With a tray underneath, very convenient.

With regards to top feeding, there is some concern that this will wash any salt build-up in the top soil into the pot. I don't really know if that's warranted.

If the goal is to add supplements to the plant, you can simply top feed them with a low amount of water (e.g. beneficial bacteria, fungi).

Epsom salt you can simply add to the reservoir. It's not an organic compound that will go stale in there.

If you can use the stuff in a DWC reservoir you can also use it in the AutoPot reservoir. Just don't use organic fertilizers that you cannot hold for several days.

I've used mineral nutrients and also fulvic acid straight in the reservoir. The only thing I did add directly to the pot was a tea of beneficial bacteria (that I happened to have lying around, so I used them for good measure).

I just added it to the res

I only ran the autopots one time with the aqua valve and res and the valve stuck and flooded my tent a little bit so I started using it the way I mentioned and seems to work pretty good although with the XL pots the base may not hold enough runoff to avoid salt build since they have that angled slot for the hose to run into they will only hold so much before they overflow so just be cautious on how much runoff you have.

Been there, done that, many times!!!

At this stage should I just worry about liquid View attachment 5038158bloom nutes,or do I still need the trio???
You want to continue your feeds as normal maybe cut back a little on it but I feed normal right up to chop. The food never really changes in nature so that’s how I look at it but everyone has a different take on it. Are you running all 3 of the trio or just the Lucas formula. Micro & bloom?

I was just using Megacrop and cal mag because I can't get the right mix of the trio... This has all been a relearning experience for me, luckily these autos probably have another 2 months if not more, that should be enough time to get them right... I'm going to get the trio tomorrow...
