guys here a question for ya why is it that your only ment to grow MJ from 22-30 degrees ? im pretty sure in iraq and pakistan were weed grows its much hotter then that.

Good question. I wondered this myself back in the day and decided to read up on it. From what I read it all boils down to C02 consumption.

A plant in the wild has more C02 available to it that it could ever use. Due to the need for ventilation, closet/cab/indoor grows provide the plants with far less C02. At about 85 degrees Fahrenheit, it gets much harder for plants to take in C02. Now if the C02 is abundant, this isnt much of an issue and may just slow the growth a little if anything.

However, indoors when the temps get over 85F or so, the plants are probably not taking in NEAR enough C02 and it will significantly stunt growth and possibly kill them if they dont stay well hydrated. I personally have had 90F temps and higher and my plants stayed alive, but they seemed to wilt even if they were not low on water. I also noticed that after a solid week of 90F temps, the buds had not grown at all, so I think it was sort of in a suspended state.

Ive seen guys that have C02 setups running with 90-95F temps and getting gorgeous buds. But with a ventilation system always pulling air out its hard for the plants to "breathe". Which is why most people that run C02 have it set to a schedule where the C02 only kicks on when the exhaust goes off. This, however, can lead to odor leaks if not done right.

Im no pro and this is all just based off of what Ive read, but it seems that most of the info has been pretty well proven.

smallclosetgrower, im not actually from qld. nimbin is in northen nsw wales but the answer to your question is yes it is possible to grow all year in qld i have a mate there that does so with reg clones he puts outside. and with these autos i believe you could grow in melbourne all year as well maybe just heaps looser nugs but. for the winter run i would prob just turn it all into hash.

so that probly explains why my plants are growing so freaking slow , its summer here and its pointless to have an intake and outake exhuast at this time because the air is just as hot outside the closet lol...im fucked.its 35 degrese celcius inside my house and even worse inside my closet during the day, i keep a fan on them but its really just blowing hot air around. i dont think ive ever prayed for a winter to come so soon.. You should run your lights at night that way it isn't that much of a problem. then you could filter air from outside or the ac vent to the vicinity of the closet's intake. My tent used to be in my walk in closet and it was hot as hell in there moved it to a more open area. This is what i might try this summer when i start using the a/c. 4" duct fan and dryer vent hose. getting it tomobre

++++ rep to u my man , see as i have an intake and outtake i have no ducting its just a fan for outtake and and hole for intake , so im going to go and buy some duct tubing and run the fresh air in from below my closet which is outside...and its like 7 degrees celcius cooler atleast outside.

yeah judging by the look of that boy and how advanced your girls are they will contain plenty of seeds. the best way to tell if they are gunna have seeds is to wait about a week and a half to two weeks than get your self a little pair of tweezers and pluck one or two of the fatter caylex's off and pull them apart. if you got seeds you will see them buy this stage starting to develope. bear in mind though if your humidity was too high the pollen may have been rendered usless, plus ive had standard females before that were sterile no matter what i tried condition wise and i tried several different pollen sources. hope this helps good luck with it all.oh and your yield should'n be hindered too much you will prob just get heaps of seed.
Hey friend, I really do appreciate you takin the time to take a peak @ my little quagmire & hook ur opinion. You def. sound like this ain't ur first rodeo.

If you don't mind checking back in a week, I'd love if I could take some pics of the calyxes as you suggested & post to get your opinion.

Again, i really appreciate your help.

I've read of Nimbin, and how it is kinda Aussie's version of Cali in the US. You all have some wcked sounding parties & gatherings from what I read on wikipedia.

I also found a video bout 6 mos. back about this really cool cat named Kog, that put out his video showin Nimbin in all it's beauty. Looks like ya'll do have some serious sun down there my friend.

So ya'll just have like a perpetual summer? I mean if you went non stop, how many OD grows can you do per year?

Holla back, I'd love to chat.

Take care & thanks again my man.

Well bro I must say, your situation is a little worse than I had anticipated. He definitely had plenty of balls byt the time you found him, if anything it was a great lesson for you.....bet that wont happen again :)

I would say there is a good chance that he might have tossed a little pollen, but definitely not a whole lot. Problem is, a little is still some. Watch your ladies closely and you will notice pods forming soon if they got hit. If you dont notice pods, then they have very few deep inside the buds or none at all hopefully.

I was thinking he was a little more premature than that but then again AFs grow so damn fast, especially the males. But like I said in my PM, it was 45 days or so before my Diesel Ryder male was tossing pollen on his own. Definitely a good lesson though, the best way to learn is for the facts to smack you right in the face, that way you are less prone to miss the early signs next time.
After only 3 or 4 grows, I was spotting signs of sex probably within hours of them showing up. Once you know what to look for it gets easier.

Keep us up to date and keep a nice close eye on each bud to see pods. I would definitely not expect your ladies to be so seedy that you get more seed than bud, you should still get a nice yield imo.

Best of luck

Dude, thanks again for tur time & help. Lawdy lawdy my man, those things did go QUICK.

Not that I have dick for a comparison (as this is I'm breakin my cherry here, been burnun daily for bout 2 decades, and just can't handle layin out 20 bucks a g for the kind. It's gettin sad on the east coast my friend.

Anyway, yeah like Day 1-Day 30 they grew to 4" MAX.

Then from bout day 32-36, they sexxed (that turncoat mutha knocked my innocent little girls up), anyway, they sexxed & stretched out to where the shortest was approx.15" & the tallest, was close to 30". That's in this little compact hydro system I have them in (all are in 4" square pots w/ holes in the bottom). I was really impressed by the sheer amount of maturity in a 3 freakin day period. Eva-fukndently things went entirely too quick for my newbie-ars to keep up with things.

Movin along, I'll post some pics in a week & let you kind souls determine if I should grow them out or not.

Here's why I am tempted to yank them.

I have some regular (non auto) reg. photo period beans (all are great pedigrees & are fem'd, even though I learned my lesson that fem'd aint exactly the gospel) they are popped in rapid rooters & ready to rock. Prob. gonna throw into 3" rockwool cubes tomorrow, or Sunday @ the latest, got maybe 3 days before the outgrow rooters. Gonna just have 12 site manifold & drippers & stakes drippin to a 2'x3' drip tray with active drainage, etc.

Gonna take the x2 sexiest & insert into a waterfarm that I have ready to just keep & maintain x2 mommies.

My original plan was to sprout the photo beans up & little veg for the next month before putting into hydro system (while I was gonna let autos finish, til I heard they were violated by that nast nasty man).

So, should I scrap auto grow & focus mainly on procuring my reg. photo beans.

I could get my moms goin & just SOG from seedlings w/ my premo photo period beans.

I get long winded some times, sorry for ramblin.

Thanks again for all the help homey, talk soon & get some pics of my hopefully virgin girls up soon.

stay up me brova

hey bro, I ain't tryin to polish ur jumblies for you or anything, but man this is some killer spot on info.

far out, ur avatar's an absolute trip too.

Good insightful shit for real. That seems spot on, from a logical hypothetical point of view of course.

Yeah, I been tryin some DIY Co2 setups, (dry ice, yeast, etc.), I've come to the conclusion that they are an utter waste of time & yeast is a pain in the dick to try & manipulate. Not like the shit has an on/off switch or anything.

I believe I could get a regulator & pump to work, if I could get my exhaust & co2 synched up. But financially I am recovering from all them auto & reg. beans, as well as the numerous systems required to try my perpetual grow (which is the purpose of my question below regarding my photo beans). Ahh, I'm ramblin again.

Yeah, if you could lemme know if my idea will work for a perpetual small closet situation. And rest assued brother, I am ALL EARS for opinions. A good bro on riu was tryin to convince me to SOG straight from seed, get them blooming in my hydro system (the system the autos currently occupy), then take clones from the SOG'd plants 1 week into bloom & revert back to veg. & keep rolling like that, as he advised that with my space, keepin moms (waterfarm), my bloom tent (w/ compact hydro system w/ 4" pots), drip tray w/ rockwool, etc. wit all that shiz in a 4x6x8 tall closet is gonna be a total pain in the dick.

However that waterfarm is only 10x10, belive I can squeeze 'er on in there.

Please be candid & lemme know your thoughts.

Anyone else feel free to chime in as well. Me brova down in Nimbin, feel free to chime, as well as smallclosetgrwr.

Thanks to all, all the best & holla back soon!

hey showhard2handle,yeah your right not my first been growing indoor hydro for about fifteen years and had numerous seeded batches. you can usually do two crops a year down here one started in the spring and another just on autum as the pig choppers are flying over head, there looking for big plants and there budget couldn't stretch to fly around all the time. plus the dumb arse's still think that weed only grows from spring to autum, they have no idea about winter crops. i have no worries checking back in a week to look at your photos im on here every day at the moment up to page 155. this is a great thread and i think that these auto's have huge potential and are our only real chance of overgrowing any goverment. i recon everyone should be planting these auto's every where even if ya dont pick em, let em go wild and spread everywhere.anyway starting to ramble im here to help anyone if i can peace to all. p.s that festival is called mardi grass, first weekend in may every year, and kog yeah what a character local legend around here.

thanks bro, I appreciate you bein willin to assist me w/ my situation. Flowers are still forming, but suppose that happens even if they are knocked up, correct?

Yeah that Kog guy is great. Love his video, gets a little philosophical & almost a little too deep some times, but it all sounds like sound advice. Not to mention for some reason (I'm sure the accent has something to do with it), but that video is just relaxing as shit. For real if I have a tough time gettin to sleep or somethin, I throw that on, and it sorts me on out.

Ramblin, anyway, thanks again my friend, be in touch soon!

If you have any tell tale symptoms to help reckognize if my girls were "violated".ha (gotta laugh @ this point), take care!

Hey all. I have a question about autoflowers and seed production. I got 10 regular auto ak 47 seeds from Attitude, and planted three of them in small pots hoping to get a male and produce some seeds. I now have three tiny female plants that just started showing :wall:.
I don't think I'll have time to germinate and plant a male and get it to produce pollen in time to produce ripe seeds from any of my fems at this point. Thus I am wondering, what is the best way to STRESS an autoflower to cause it to turn HERMIE?? Since it's not dependent on light cycle, there's no way to use the old trick of turning on the lights for an hour each night. Would exposing it to extreme heat likely cause hermies? I've heard there's a few chemical compounds you can apply, but it seems like there must be a simpler way! Any ideas or experience? Thanks for reading!

If you stress it into a hermie your pollen will probably be useless to use to get seeds, as it will probably get you hermie seeds. I definitely do not recommend that! I almost bet you could get a male to produce pollen before they are done flowering because males flower (and sometimes grow) MUCH faster. Plant a couple more seeds and keep em in 12/12 and the male will show first, I garauntee.

OK, I have 4 Attitude AK x Hindu Kush that I'm growing. Of the 4, one is a boy, so he's in another room. But the three ladies are going gangbusters. I've never grown this strain before, so requesting a little help from those who have. In these four pics, the first one is Carol. Carol is 6 weeks old and is still sitting on 2 paperbacks in my grow case. She's short but tasty looking. The second two pics are Marsha and she's only 4 weeks old. Outgrowing my PC grow box already and stretchy as hell. The fourth pic is all three of my girls, to include Jan who's only 1 day younger than Marsha (she was very slow coming out of her seed casing). Do you guys think Marsha is the same strain as Carol and Jan? She's totally different. And since the PC Grow cases are the only lights I have, what am I going to do with this big girl? She's got a lonnnnng way to go with her only being a month old ... suggestions?

Don't know if anybody is interested or not but I have a Autoflower grow group here at RIU. and we have tons of great pics with different strains to view. Good advise and a friendly atmosphere.
All are invited to check us out and maybe help or be helped. First times and pros welcome. The only thing I ask is to try to keep the plants your growing Auto's. Thanks and hope to see some new faces.
