auto flowering

Well with autos you don't flip the lights...they flower under 18/6, or 24/0 or whatever lighting schedule you want to use...they are usually smaller than photo plants, because you aren't in control of how large the plant is before it flowers...they are great for if you run into some issues with running out of smoke before your plants finish flowering, because you can have autos going in the veg area...so it doesn't matter how long the flowering plants may take you don't have to run out..but they just aren't as great when it comes to yield, or strength of product from what i hear, and have experienced myself...I would rather 12/12 from seed a photo plant...that way I have fast and strong smoke also in a short time...

You don't want to transplant autos either...so put them in the pot they will stay, either 3 or 5 gallons...

what about cloning?

you shouldnt clone autos, but u can, although it will stress the clone and it can turn hermie, its not advised but it is possible if u really really really want to. Just get more seeds, or get regular auto plants n get ur own seeds.

in terms of yeild, with the right genetics and set up, i think the most anyones got off an auto is around 360 grams. yes. they can produce very high yeilds if u pick the right variety and always grow it under the specific strains optimum environmental conditions. although, your more likely looking at around 3 ounces for a single plant if you consider yourself a knowledgable grower with a 400 hps or roundabouts light output and good container/soil/nutes/ventilation etc

There are so many varieties to choose from. Some take 6 weeks, some up to 9, and some haze varieties can take 90+ days. Most varieties should start flowering after 2-3 weeks on 20/4 light cycle, although some phenotypes and/or strains are unstable and may not be auto at all. best to shop around and check reviews. there is an auto thread on rollitup. an ultra lemon haze auto i came across on a seedbank recommends a 12/12 light cycle and 90+ days whereas there are others that can fully flower on a 24/0 or 20/4 light cycle in 60+ days.

good luck, its a really interesting and exciting world. but like missnu said above ^ they can be a great addition to a regular photo strains grow, because they can be harvested while a normal photo strain has still got a way to go, so u have smoke before ur main harvest. some auto strains have very high resin production, like i said shop around nn check out grow journals and reviews !

p.s. yeilds are extremely variable by strain and environmental conditions and experience - you could end up with an 1/8 or 3 ounces, choose wisely !

sounds juicy. one rule of thumb i found out the hard way: dont overpopulate ur grow space unless u got enough light to handle it, some autos get big and bushy, and also always go 1/4 strength on nutes. even people will big yeilds say this, coz autos are sensitive to nutes. put her in a decent sized pot. i transplanted mine twice, once when they grew into their propogation tray pots and the next was when i took them out of 1.5 litre pots and into a 2.5 gallon. the last time i transplanted them was when they were showing preflowers (and the regular lowryder males had developed a cluster of balls on top lol) i wouldnt transplant after that, coz they cud go into bad shock. if at all possible just put them straight into their final container from a seedling. good luck
