lol talking bout light leaks made me think i have never had a good look for them so i went and climbed into the veg section with the HPS on in the flowering section and shut the door ... i found a small nail hole i had missed :P blocked it over now tho and its light tight my main battle is gunna be the heat with the HPS on now ( has been on for about 2 hours ) its 40 in there but thats with no exhaust at all just a sealed room and the fan on the light hood just blowing air into the veg room wall and the thermostat directly under the light

erab, 600W in an 85cm x 50cm is overkill for sure, but it certainly isnt a bad thing, just means you could grow more than 4 plants, however in that space you can really only fit 2 plants, maybe 4 if you lollipop them. I'm using a 50 deep and 130 wide grow space and have comfortably finished 2 plants in there (topped and LST) and could have made 1 more fit. This time round I'm doing 2 again, and doing a scrog to fill up more of the horizontal space, however with your smaller space and higher powered lights (I'm just running CFLs) you will be able to yield a bit more bud via vertical growth I believe.

Your major concern is heat, and 40deg after 2hrs is not a good sign. If it has a cool tube then install ducting to vent that air outside the cabinet, and have the intake ducting sourcing air from the coolest place possible (ie under the cab, in a dark/cool area, next to an AC vent). You'll also want a passive inlet and a fan powered exhaust to move the air in your grow space, and a lil fan blowing onto/accross your plants. Bunnings have awesome small fans (10-15cm) for $12, they are very quiet, compact, and have a decent output.

Anyways I'm rambling, this is what happens when I havent smoked all day!

Yer i am planning on running intake and exhaust fans on the light hood and to bring air in/out of the room also. Im just running the light in the room fully sealed to see what the max temp will get to to see if i can manage to cool such a small space befor i start cutting holes in the cupboard for intakes and exhausts. I dont realy want a grow tent in my house but at this point it is looking like i might end up with one . my other option is making my own cupboard from scratch with dimensions to suit what i am looking for and will also look semi standard ... or atleast less obvious than a grow tent

I presume you have read through Cruzers thread? It is quite informative

I dont quite see the point in testing something bound to fail :/ You will need the cooltube and ducting, so I'd grab my hole saw and get to it :D Discreet holes on the top and back of a cabinet will remain unseen, and can even be covered.

the reason i have not started cutting yet is because im not sure i want to use this cupboard now lol . I think i might make something a bit larger so i can flower 4-6 plants :weed:

one thing ive learned about these forums is the more info you want, the more detailed questions you have to ask so what sort of info are you after? id definately start by reading up on sprouting your seeds and getting them to good healthy seedlings before planting but once youve got a spot and get them in the ground i dont think theres really that much more to it growing outside. it just becomes a watering and waiting game and you would treat them the same as you would any plant in your garden, treating pests and feeding the plants if needed. other more experienced outdoor growers might have more to add but its really when you wanna move indoors and add lights the questions start to build up.

oh and what was with that yank douche bag? the only people that call them shrimp are americans and has ANYONE ever even tasted fosters yet alone drink it regularly? sorry now im ranting to!
