Like the title says at what point should i clear out the leaves under my scrog? I just switched to 12/12 today. After the stretch i would guess. Is this correct?

Once your canopy is dense enough that the foliage under the screen is totally covered take anything under the screen out. i typically do a little by little and not all at once. i do this because 1. its not a chore doing it little by little and 2. there is no risk of shocking the plant this way. check out my grows and you can see how it is done.

If you scrog properly, never..

Check the links in my sig
that's a matter of opinion. i think it is better to have the added air flow you get up through the screen. check out the scrogger's united page, woodsmantoker is pretty much the scrog guru for this site. if you get some conflicting info and don't know what to do ask him and do what he says. You might want to check that out to LBH and read a little bit of what there is to be learned about topping and then really get it going "properly"

I agree, air flow throughout the screen is key but that defoliation all occurs at screen level, there shouldn't be anything below the screen except the medium and the pot. Chopping off potential bud instead of bringing it up to the canopy is a double negative IMO. I bring all that up and turn it into weight w/o ever adding the pruning stress to my plants. I pull 4-7 ounces per plant (5.5 avg), 4 plants per light, under 400's. If that's wrong, I don't think I wanna be right, lol

The tutorials I posted have been around the net for a good 8 yrs now, literally thousands of folks have benefited from them. the best part about them though is the chatter we get between growers. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything and chewing the fat is how super techniques are developed so yea,...I'm in, link me to that scroggers thread please :)

The point to topping is it allows you to now grow the plant horizontally. This is how you get that screen just inches above the pot, otherwise, you're looking at 8" to a foot of stuff that won't get good light (especially if you manipulate your canopy right). That's stuff you guys clean off. I grow it out.

Seriously, read my tutorial, it's a short, easy read and I think you'll find it interesting

edit- and thx for the link :)
