it not negative....just personal observation from an uneducated hick

like the fact the damn man never wrote anything down for himself....we remember nothing of him...it's all word of mouth

look...let me try a different approach....

There is barely anything more destructive than finally letting a piece of writing out to a wider audience only to be faced with a barrage of criticism.
It happens to every writer be it at the hands of an editor, agent or member of a critique group but when it happens, it is of the utmost importance that it is used to the writer’s advantage.

Every idea is valuable and capable of becoming something amazing.
Criticism may not always be constructive but that does not mean that a writer can’t make it so.

Nothing is a Waste!
Everything is of Value!

Sometimes criticism may come across as negative because the person offering it does not fully know how to put their point across.
Not that criticism should be ignored or undervalued but it should definitely be studied in order to find the constructive criticism amongst the destructive criticism.

The only truly destructive criticism is when someone merely says, "Throw it away and forget about it...it's not fit to line my cat's litter tray..."
How often does a writer actually hear those words?
So, next time someone offers some feedback that falls decidedly into the “negative” category a writer should take those comments and then use it!

why do you think that me copying and pasting random gibberish i find on random google hits into a sensible sounding response here, would make me think in any way, out of morbid curiosity?

in order to be happy, you need to wanna be happy, ill tell ya, aint nothin gunna make me happier than when 2012 comes around and i got some riftraft tryin to get into my house, BAM shotgun pepper right in your lookers, it'll really bring me to my calm-submissive state of mind, lol. it will also be very humbling usin the bodies as outdoor fertilizer since you know how much money you are gunna save by doin so!
What the FUCK are you doing in these areas of a forum? This section is called philosophy and all ideas are on the table to discuss. Your against reason here, you come here already *knowing* things and waving them around like a dick.. dominated by your own ego with a hell of a narrow mind and also paranoid by the 2012 conspiracy theory you belive in. You are standard dude... standard...

Yea I`m sure Johnny Cash is right, fightings gonna solve stuff. By the looks of it "BAM BAM" you play too much computer games and smoke way too much pot dude lol

philosophy is for people who are gunna get headshotted when 2012 comes around, as johnny cash would say "when the man comes around" , take that philosophical shit and go trade it in for a 30-o6, so you are the one takin hellacious headshots
what is going to happen in 2012? and do you have any proof of it, or just some ranting based off a history channel documentary about some ancient calendar?

philosophy is also for those who can think critically, a skill you appear to lack and instead replace with sociopathic rage.

what's that? philosophy majors do better on the verbal portion of the GRE than english majors? philosophy majors do better on the GMAT than business majors? philosophy majors do better on the LSAT than poli sci majors?

well fuck me running!

as it seems you may believe more in the power of guns than the power of intelligence, that is just an expression, and not to be taken literally.

Once you gain the ability to critique yourself, to analyze yourself… not your life. That is when you can become one with who you are and who you truly want to be. And that my friends, is where true happiness comes from. But that’s all just my personal opinion.

i did a project in philosophy just recently about the utilitarian: John Stuart Mill (famous philosopher from the 1900's) this is what i read to everyone in class at the end of my presentation.
I disagree, once you remove the urge to critique yourself and analyze every little thing you do, you are free... and happy. Obviously, I'm more Buddhist than Utilitarian. :p

Are any of your family members currently on trial for murder, and are you likely to be tasked with the job of explaining to their children(ages 7 and 4) why their father killed himself, then subsequently try your very hardest to give them the love and the life that they deserved? If not, then you could be in worse shape.

As to the OP,

I have good friends, great children, and a loving wife. I don't think it's truly possible to get everything you could ever possibly want out of life, and yes, I often struggle in several different regards, but in the grand scheme of things, I'd say I'm happy.

Happiness is here today, gone tomorrow, very overrated
Learn to be content in all situations and that will produce a happiness that is not fleeting.

Logotheraphy; finding meaning to ones lives; choosing one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances.

That is the question isn’t it, what is the meaning of life? People forget, or have never had time to stop and think about it. We are too busy searching for something else, when we have everything we have ever needed within ourselves. What is the meaning of MY life? That is the question you need to ask yourself. It is different for everyone. That is so crazy for me, we all come from the same exact “stuffs” but yet we are so completely and utterly different in every aspect. The way you think about a certain situation, will judge how you react to the situation. If your meaning of life is to spread the word of love, optimism would probably be a very valuable asset. I think the way you perceive life is directly related to what you want to get out of life.

What do you want to get out of life? Do you want wealth, fame, good fortune, good health, toys, shoes, things… To love? To teach good morals? To instill a sense of freedom? To instill a sense of separation between body and soul, consciousness, mind, whichever word you would like to choose. To instill a sense of balance between ourselves, others, and nature?

When you figure out what life means to you. What you want to get out of life. That is what dictates your perception about life, which in turn dictates your attitude in any given set of circumstances.

Happiness, true happiness, one must travel to the darkness before he can know it.

In another words, it is liken to an equation that must always balance out.

On one side how ever deep you travel to the pit of misery, allows you to travel to new hieghts of happiness.

So when those dark days approach, fear them not, but accept them for they will allow you to find a higher plane in your mind.

balance, it is about balance is it not. maybe you don't need to experience misery to gain happiness. maybe you must experience misery to appreciate happiness. maybe if you balance your happiness, with the happiness of others it can balance the scales without misery being required. maybe....maybe we will never know.
