I was wondering if i could grow anything with these?
are two 4100k 48"40w flourcent tubes strong enough to grow anything?

Yeah... I had to start out with just a shitty 10$ grow-lux light... and it worked fine for the first few weeks, now I got them switched over to a 4-bulb florescent, I think each bulb is 23w eco-lux.... and my plants are getting think as fuck! So yeah, just be sure to leave the light like 1-2 inch's away from the top of plant. Pretty much as long as its not touching it wont get burnt, but throw your hand under there and make sure its not to toasty. What are you thinking about starting??
First of all, the 4100K fluorescent tubes are the wrong kelvin rating to grow weed successfully; you want to shoot for at least a rating of 5500K or above, because these wavelength band carries the most useable light for your plants. As well, fluorescent do not put out nearly enough lumens to successfully vegetate your plants past a couple of inches(unless your are using a lot of bulbs or are growing with t5's), and certainly will not flower your plants very well. My suggestion, either you go with numerous cfls, or you invest in a mh/hps ballast system, you will be thanking yourself in the end.

I love how everyone gives you the completely useless comments about just screwing flourecent and going for mh/hps like, myself or anyone else without the money would have just done in the first place. use some common sence not to be an ass, but dont you think i woulda just bought one in the first place if i could afford one?
