Are people losing sight of what this is all about?

I like limonene terpenes. If I smell lemon when I open the jar my brain said "hell yeah, lemons!" That is altering my mood going in. I expect that I will enjoy this lemony weed. I take a hit, it tastes good, I'm feeling good. Entourage in full effect. That's still a placebo.

Last year I was driving up in the mountains during a big snow storm while smoking a huge joint. I remember thinking "there's no indica on earth that could couch lock me right now." Yesterday evening I was cozy and slouching hard on my couch. I smoked a little and then nodded out while sitting upright like a junkie. There was no sativa on earth that could have kept me awake.

The first time I really could 'latch' on to something like that was when I grew Tangerine Dream. Most of the 'smells like blah blah blah' stuff doesn't mean much to me and I don't have the olfactory sensitivity for a lot of nuance (lots of sinus damage (natural not substance related) & sinus surgeries have had their toll)...but in the tent and in the 'jar' TD is just overwhelmingly citrusy and juicy to me.

I've been smoking since '74 and I've smoked a shit ton of different strains , indoor and outdoor . I get a pretty good selection of the "strain of the month" these days .

What I see lately is all these new hybrids seem to have a "ceiling" . I get a good high but hit a spot where it stops . Rarely am I seeing anything that makes me say "oh shit" and put down the joint before it's even half burned . I don't see much creeper weed either .

My old partner still kicks around outdoor a bit and has a few strains of his own that go back years . They don't taste fruity or cakey , more of an earthy hash , maybe with a touch of pine or mint . They're not very frosty but have a strong nose . When you feel good and high you'd better put that doobie down . Wait 10-15 minutes and then decide . Drive after smoking it and you'll only remember leaving and arriving at your destination , but you won't remember how you got there .

In the last several years I can only remember a couple different strains that were exceptional and capable of acute intoxication . Whappa , and Headbanger come to mind .

Maybe I'm just an old fuck dreaming of the past... :cuss:

Is it lemony? I've never bought a lemon strains, but I have found a few phenos here and there. I never mothered them for whatever reason, but I've been meaning to hunt out something.

Look into lemon thai if you like lemon also lemon skunk and kc33 also the old superlemonhaze was pretty ace too but it just aint the same from seed these days imo but if u can get the franco cut id grab that however and also alot of amnesia strains got a bunch of lemon in there too i like lemon stuff sometimes its not my fave flavour but i occasionally fancy it and to me it seems lemon and lime type tastes are more prevalent in sativa dom stuff vs indica obviously theres some lemony tasting indicas too of course however it is just what i have found personally over the years

Largest trends in the industry in terms of the cannabis plant itself have been increasing thc levels, more flavor, shorter flowering times, clones, and post-harvest concentrates.

To create more balance, let’s get back to popping seeds, some longer flowering times, and post-harvest flower appreciation and consumption. Flavor can come along for the ride.

Jack Herer: switches any mood good. Blueberry: gives me a sense of fun. Sour Diesel: housework. Strawberry pie: off to bed a bit paranoid. Northern lights: makes me legs feel nice when i get into bed. GSC: Giggling but a bit dangerous. Gelato: the only one where my boyfriend actually knows I'm stoned. And they're all great for (thinking about) work (I'm a philosophy lecturer). But gosh, if these are placebo effects then I really should get into homeopathy.

Check out Putang. This stuff smells incredible and is very sticky. Very strong citrus. Not chem or cleaner type but candy.

strain tolerance I find to be real, strains high in caryphelene or what ever has that effect to me all the time. then strains tested to not have that pepper corn terpene, hit me consistantly and desirably. in terms of getting jacked up, a tolerance fix has any ol’ weed providing trippy effects. Heaver smoker too so I had to really learn this and remember to consider it if test results available.

When looking into this, not much talked about but they mention all this and include that blueberry herritage and haze has this effect so people with tolerance issues stay away from bluedream and strains alike. high in caryphilene. I hate bluedream, never makes me feel anything, dabs dont even hit hard at 80% thc.

I like the razor sharp hitting effects , head rush. Dabs. indica highs (i vote yes theres a difference!) sativas indeed hit best going out and about. indicas give me this hammered feeling.

Then strains like I mentioned tend to be hit or miss, need smoke 3 -4 times the amount to be satisfied a lot of times.

tolerance break, switching strains, shedding thc or less sessions daily will have me realizing there is a thing such as “too much” lol. I go by feel, knowing differnce between being high on a tolerance and just plain running up a tolerance, trying to maintain a healthy use which i think is where its at, aiming for desired effects, sometimes going ham for fun. if sometimes means daily lol

I find I can reset myself within 24 hrs, done after a week. I think quitting for 2-3 weeks isnt needed at all. quitting altogether just for health reasons isnt bad to do either but thread is about enjoying weed consistently so.

as far as looks and smell, sometimes I smoke a bowl just wanting a nice weed taste too, sometimes i just want to chunk down a pretty nug. smell highly reflective of terpene content too. runtz , GG4 , blue cheese (the original!) .

i like having all kinds of different bags around me and smoking depending on what i feel like having.

So this is where environment gets interesting. We grew 1 plant from seed and have cloned it for a few generations, so same plant the whole time. Old lights and controller it was very piney with hints of lemon in the background.
New light/uva and new environment controller and its more lemon with pine.

Do you think cannabis has become an overwhelmingly fetishised pile of bullcrap? People seem to have become completely obsessed with flavour and smell and look. Cookies, candy, berries, skittlez, banana f***ing punch. Who really gives a crap about this stuff? - it's as though people have forgotten about the actual high. For me, this is where the nuance is between strains. But just look at fastbuds new strains, they're so clearly designed to attract people based on their smell and taste - all the smoke descriptions are basically the same - burst of energy followed by relaxed body, very basic, boring and disappointing combinations of former strains - it's as though they've completely run out of ideas. I'm not blaming fastbuds - they're just catering to what their market want - I'm just disappointed that people no longer seem to care about the high. What do you think? Is the taste/smell as important as the high? Or is contemporary hyper capitalism ruining the market by elevating something that doesnt really matter? And which weed do you think has the most interesting high?
The most interesting high I ever had was unknown bud but looking back on it I’m pretty sure it was a Pure or almost pure haze( conjecture of course). Smoked it of

Effect, duration is top of my list. Bag appeal is dead last and I don’t care so much about taste but I do want to appreciate the aroma. I can dig some really nasty funky aroma though Cannabis wise. I think most of us here are tired of the current stuff but…… the market isnt geared toward us anyway. How many of you are buying cookies from the dispo lol ? Agreed ot sucks though, everything cross crossed back and forth
