Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

Spaz was definitely referring to my cob project. There is nothing fancy to know about wiring for AT or any pre made panel...it's the mcpcb's that are technical and hard to copy. COBs take all that out. One cob, one driver, positive and negative...repeat as necessary.

To answer spaz's question...pics are old school...video

Supra...yep, the AT slab will be the heat sink source. For a bunch of reasons. It's so easy to integrate into my system, perfect fit. And will let me compare to my AT's directly. Plus it seems to be one of the best I would be able to find anywhere anyways. And I have it already. Then I will build my rail/bar design based on what goes on with the cowboy.

So I have now done the smoke test for both...multile times over multiple days.
I took the best nugs form each, a little below the tops...the best buds on the whole plant imo. Then started each day off with on, and continued the whole day to bed on just the one type(led or hps)...then the next day I did the other...then once more fro each. So 2 days of smoking each type of lights' buds.

The differences were pretty stereotypical for led's and hps...go figure.

The High: Holy fucking haze trip, bluring, mind fuck of a high. My face/brain/whole head feel like an electric charge is running though it. From chest down all is low key...no shivers or temp drops. Juices are defiantly flowing. Typical blue dream...but I can't wait to see the lab results, beacuse I can barley handle a rip or 2. Will not smoke it before work...I feel the paranoia too hard.
Fucking great pure sativa high...then crashes like a diabetic...next thing the lady is walking in the door asking what you did all day after work...answer: I don't know...not much I think. No huge noticeable difference in the high it's self. LED day 1 got me the most shacked by far for some reason though. I smoke all day everyday so I was not clean or have a low tolerance going into it. And I had ripped some hps buds a week ago. The only difference from a normal day is that I stayed to the one type of light's buds. Instead of strain, hash , and kief mixing all day.

Physical feel: You can actually feel the difference in just the touch of the buds. The hps cells are bigger but empty you could say. Bigger buds of hps feels lighter than slightly smaller LED buds. Exactly what people wave always said about led's...but I never said that...I always thought hps was bigger and just as dense...my hps have always been and even these dreams, dense as I thought they could/should be. Then when I went to led's they were obviously not as big my first couple runs and I just thought that was more an yield issue. But now the yield issue is gone, and the buds are still just dense and more compact. More of a resinous feels when breaking up LED bud.

Smell: LED clearly has a stronger smell. The jars/curing widened the gap.
Taste: Smell translated into the taste...more intense flavor, not different. Haze dominant, the little sandle wood, then the berry hangs on the last little bit. Both are very smooth. No cough from harness or tatse...only massiveness of the bong loads :) .

If I am forgetting anything it probably wasn't worth mentioning or a noticeable difference....it is the same clone only from the same mom, where just 3 moths ago were all under the exact same conditions...so really how much difference can there be.
Lab results will tell...I will get a move on that.

I have had a few cuts of dream outside for a while now. They were big in 1 gals before coming out and put in 5 gal. I have 3 of them, 3x3 bushes. I took 41 cuts yesterday. All super healthy. Stepping up the clone game with real moms...outdoor makes them a little firmer but but they root fine. But I have been topping these so much that there is so much new growth they are all very prime cuts. A beautiful bouquet...
IMG_3504.jpg

And another clone...when they were all root bound in 1gal's I cloned this one to death...all but one node. And from that one node, I have built up to 16 mainlined heads. Probably going to top once more from 32, then test project cowboy on it. It's only in a 3gal...but will go to a 10gal in the next day or so.
IMG_3503.jpg

I just brewed and feed with a nice clean brew...beautiful clean white foam...
IMG_3506.jpg

I got a new veg nutrient...fish protein.I have been wanting to try this stuff for a while. I have heard great things about it. It stinks so bad. People literally stop using it just because the smell. But I'll give it a try. I use organocide, so fish smell is regular for me during veg. My buddy said use it as your leaving...never the first thing you do in the garden.
IMG_3505.jpg

Check out the veg room. I had to get rid of the buffalo...truned out I had 9 buffalo and 6 candy lands...talked to the club and they did the right thing. From now on every clone will have a tag. Only thins one vendors colens didn't because they are the whole tray deal...but they were cool about it and took car of me. All I can ask for.
So I gave them all back and started over. With an OG...my favorite!!! But it's a new cross/ line. King Klones genetics OG...it's the tahoe clone x their personal OG male. Hoping for a hybrid yvigir/yield boost with the originals taste and kick. This breeder seems/says the test and pick so I am trusting. They are absolutely no question, the healthiest cut's I have ever gotten.
And all the little ones in the back are mostly blue dream...but 7 GSCxJilly, and 3 extra OG's...

And doing it with a bare bones AT120 all white

Fish fish fish all i smell is fish!!!

Haave u checked out this thread GG?
https://www.rollitup.org/t/total-noob-using-teas-and-i-am-a-believer.676040/

Its long but the first couple paages are very informative!

Pretty much it ask for minimum amount of kelp first, let the kelp brew for up to 24hr for it to actively start to work, then add worm casting, fish, and molasses. Brew another 24hrs. Keep it simple!

Also have u ever though of making a vortex? Super simple and cheap, my vortex gets things done quicker and believe it or not, its not difficult to maintain.

And last but not least about teas, do u use enzyme teas or feedings? Super sprout teas and coco water work miracles!

And man all my plants that are outdoor are growing like crazy!! I super cropped the shit out of a plant and it recovered in less then a hour, crazy vigor.
Have u ever taken a large outdoor plant and flowered indoor? Thinking of trying that out to see what happens

I didn't check not before I took them off. But I have a second all white unit with lenses in still I will compare when I'm off work today.
I did check ...
The at120 no lenses was hitting about 250umols. The. I put up the at200 with all 50lenes and it was at 300+umols. But so pink...all white is nicer.
I never really measure distance...just intensity and where ever it needs to be is where I put it.
Newer chips are better...no question.

I use boogie brew veganic compost tea. Cheap, pre mixed, local guy, and most importantly the plants like it. It just keeps the soil alive nothing too strong to feed on. I usually don't do much at all in veg. The soil can take them to flower. But the fish protein is worth a try.

GG,

Thank you for putting this out there. Now that you've should us you can achieve yields on par (pun intended) with HPS, can't wait till do LED side by side comparison. I'm a frugal bastard and though I am sold on LED and currently use Dorm Grow product, I can't help but wonder if same results the Apache AT600 can be achieved using a Dorm Grow 900 Full Spectrum for half the cost of an AT600.

DankSwag
I have a dormgrow 900 and an apache at600 and I promise you that the dormgrow will not get close to the same results as the at600.

Too bad about the white buffalo mix up. I was looking forward to seeing how that turned out. But OG Kush should be a goodie.

Based on the description from king klone website, pretty confident its a cut of GDP seed's OG Kush. Pretty much aligns with the whole being on board with the Blu label and having GDP genetics in the crosses. The club I go to has the same clones and they've always been super healthy.

I wish I had them last grow then, fricking clones were a bunch of arse so I could have done with the stretching, at least I might have got the 8" bonsai plant to grow another inch or too :wall: (root damage in rockwool cube as it turns out after post mortem).

I'd have managed an Apache or other top brand name if there was anywhere to buy them in the UK that didn't involve a pleasant chat with with Customs and Excise about how much import duty I owed them and why I wanted a grow light anyway! GG is right, diy might be the way to go over here!

I would have replied earlier but I only just saw your post. Vipars rock. Seriously. The secret to using them is to make sure you have an adequate heat source at canopy level to maintain the temperature at around 25°C. I made the mistake on my very first grow with the vipar v300 of using them just by themselves in the middle of winter with very dismal results. While they were great in veg it was just too cold for the plants to adequately flower and they were stunted. I started a new grow with them but this time I added a 250w HPS and the results have so far been outstanding. Check out my current grow :

2 weeks of veg then having to return for brand new just rooted clones wan't an even swap in my book...So I felt that I deserved to hang on to a cut or two of each...So I technically(assuming they root) have white buffalo and candyland...I think came out ahead if that happens

I know,I was bummed...but it also sounded like form the description that buffalo doesn't like super intense light...that is a problem for me hahha

well shit, if you got some potential mother's out of it, i'd say well worth the trade. can't go wrong with candyland. The 120 looks weird without the lenses. Was that just to get more coverage?

Yes, they will be moms if I need them.

I was in the cob spirit...and the 120 chips look like little cobs. The at200 with 50's outperformed it...but was too lazy to take the lenses off that. And I just put up a second 120 all white with 14's. It's better.

I am trying to figure out what to do with my room and genetics. Lights are set and will be 2000w of AT's(1at600 3at200's and 6at120's) over 4x12. But what genetics per section is up in the air. The dream is assumed to be the bigger yielder. So I want to run more of it. But I have the OG's, but don't want OG yields. Just OG in my personal jar. But we will see. 4x8 of dream and 4x4 of OF...or visa versa. Or all dream and use the OG in the cob test tent(3x3) OR I have that perfectly mainlined blue dream. Too many options. And new genetics are never set thing. I have never seen a Yield: "low" at the club. So med-high could mean anything. Bu5 dream is proven in my garden so I guess I just talked/typed myself into at least 4x8 of dream. And with know results with a strain I must run dream for the cob tent..so OG in the toe of the "L" it is.

Thanks of talking that out with me...now I am feeling good. Just will need to veg a little while.

I've had the same problem keeping temps up, turns out that the 1kw oil heater I was using to keep the temps up during lights off was using more electric than the two LED's. I've gone back to autos now, 20/4, might as well use the power to light them instead of heat them :)
I've got the tent set up for a vertical scrog now, V240 and V300 hanging vertically either side and I've ordered the new C180 5w reflector cluster to hang above. Oh and as an aside I've managed to fix a white/red/blue led spotlight to the scrog frame just to see if it helps.
Funny enough when I posted about the other 5w lamp they produce it was only then I noticed that they've brought the new reflector units out with Bridgelux 5w chips, for us in the UK that's gotta be worth trying :)

I would love to get my hands on their 500w 5w chipset lights as it sounds like its going to be quite a beast but I simply cannot afford it at the moment. Still Im quite chuffed with the results Im getting from their V300 for the time being. And while you can pick up some very good bargains from america like you I feel leery about them having to pass through customs.

Well, my drivers showed up today.
First...shipping is weak...bubble wrap lined envelope...that was ripped open. Only one driver is dented...I haven't tested anything yet. Just first impression.

Second...Way smaller than I was expecting. I will defiantly be able to use the AT housing if I want. With the top closed and everything. That might change my design...but I still am leaning towards external drivers. "Why not if I can"....is my though behind it. But I could also make an all enclosed clean and professional unit if I put it all inside. Not trying to re-invent the wheel...just pump up the engine.

Here is the basic layout(literally just laying in there). There will only be 4 COBs used in the unit. And have been thinking of getting a high CRI for the center to make 5 total. But I will start with just 4 3000k 80cri 3070's for now.

IMG_3529.jpg

All lined up...you can see the dented one

On top of apache's drivers.

The only thing I am missing before I start assembling is the holders...11.88 for 6...10.30 to ship them. Just clicked order.
