Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

But with that said the intensity at the canopies are the same about 800-900µmols.
In this case I have to disagree with those that want the hps lights a bit lower. You have the same PAR readings, and almost identical coverage all round the canopy. Since this IS a side by side test of the lights you couldn't ask for a better comparison.

Sounds more like hps growers are whining cause the hps internode length is little bit longer. But really thats just the nature of an hps yellow-orange spectrum.

The only true side by side where parameters could be equal would be HPS v HPS, or LED v LED

The heat signature and umol/m*/sec is much greater with hps. The hps heat alone makes the plants sweat more, and therefor require more water/nutes, or else they would wilt
Hey petaflora no offense i obviously realize all those very good points, i was just talking about the basic aspects of the test

I don't understand some of you...the lights are different and separated from any interaction=side by side.

It's a side by side to see when USING EACH LIGHT if/and what the differences are. Differences are noted...and either treated/attended to if they're bad, or admired if good.

Like I said the hps and led will end up closer...patience people. 12" is not happening I can tell you that...but lower it will get(actually higher they will grow).

Glad you are all entertained. I have some pics to post tonight(nothing you haven't seen in the videos). I have been taking some but just getting the updates done is a hard sometimes. I start normal job work at 4am everyday, then have to wait till 9pm to start working in the garden at nights...which is at least a couple hours every night...sometimes just keeping the co2 up(chiefing)...but it's hard to want to do anything other than grind in there and go to bed. That's why I like veg...I can hang out with the girls all day once I'm off. Time is getting precious, so it's hard to take a minute for pics and vids sometimes. Anyways, I will get them up soon
hey man, I think you are doing a good job. I am not complaining or trolling...Hats off to you for doing this....for real. I was only stating something I would do to prevent so much stretch..that is all. but the overall height would be reduced if you could keep the light closer.

Alot of hid growers imo put their light to close even with venting. I think the closest a 1000w should ever be is 18 -20 inches in flower after stretch, Rotate consistently to avoid bleaching and give optimal light. That's still pretty close.
ant that's your opinion. I can say from experience 12" distance produces PHENOMENAL results without bleaching.

I can also say that a lights intensity drops off exponentially with distance. So the bottom line is the closer the better if you can get away without bleaching.

i'm not trying to interfere with the experiment here guys. just saying that I would be unhappy if my plants were that stretchy, and I would do something about it.

the led grown plants look great!

I don't recall anyone whining about anything, we run our lights as close as temps will allow without bleaching or heat stress, it was an observation that a few people made, that was all. It's day 7, there's not really much to look at yet let alone bitch about. HID in cooled hoods can be slammed down pretty close, LED can't. I like 600s at 10" and 1000s at 18", bare bulb 1000s around 30. I'm not bitching, just making an observation. I thought the light was around 36" away, that's what it looked like to me, if he says it's at 24" then great, that's not much further away that I run em.

I just got done reading through about three hours of tags420 threads before I figured out what was up. :-). I wanted to find that discount code you had. I'd pm you but I don't know how. After doing all that reading I don't even need to wait for this grow to finish. I've already made up my mind.

Haha. Nice man. The code is RBK331 and just use in the cart.

Your picking the right light. There is such a difference in heat output, that in AZ it will mean way way more to you than me. You will be able to manage your temps with no problems.
I think of my self as a good grower...but I have never been the king of yields. If I got 1.5 per 1000w I am more than satisfied...but I always am striving for the 2 per light don't get me wrong.

Looks good so far. However, I will echo a few and say drop the HPS down. I usually have mine ~14-16" without any light bleaching or heat stress ever. I would also drop the LED down as far as you can also. I dont know of anyone who leaves their HPS that high off the canopy. Same thing with the LED. The HPS 1000 is known for light penetration. With you leaving it that far up I dont think you are using it to its full potential.

Thanks for that code bud, I know what you mean about that 2 per light thing. I've got a girl that gets very fat (2 pounds easy per light) I don't see how I can go wrong with the at600. But for now it's gonna just be used for our personal Master Bubba, and OG Kush. I'm still gonna run 4k of hps. At least until I can convince myself to switch em all out. :-) thanks again.

So I went out of town for the weekend and man did they grow in that time. I was pretty stoned and just kind of jumped right into it.

Still 7 days+ of stretch left so for all complaining about hanging height just hold your panties and wait it out.

I watched the video late last night am. Everything looks great. Very healthy and happy. No bugs no defs. All happy. Good job.

great test man +to you

so how many actual watts does that apache pull?
Thanks man, it's pulling 685w.
Looks good man, I am taking a seat here~ subbed!
welcome aboard, the fun is just beginning.

Awesome, best side by side yet
Much appreciated. I think it will give LEDs the credit the deserve.
Plus for me personally will give a up to date/accurate comparison of my abilities.

Thanks bro. I was preventative, cautious, and the room is thoroughly filtered.

I am getting some early starts going in my normal veggie garden, and I am seeing white flies outside...so now I am super cautious about being sterile/clean going into my room. I will spray the v-garden to keep them away. It's an early season I'm thinking so putting the starts in the ground this weekend.

I got white flies a few times recently too. Something's going on... I've never had them before.

cool cool thanks man. I tell ya if it pulls even 70% of the 1khps that's a big win.in my book .by the looks of the node spacing and stuff it may be better.

How hot would you estimate the panel runs? bout 100 degrees or so? Do you have an ir thermometer? or maybe set a thermometer on it for a while? I'd like to get an idea of the savings in cooling costs compared to hps.

i'm very interested in the specs on the unit.

thanks bro.
