Anyone using the Timber model-4vs in a 3x3x6 tent?

Hey Guys and Gals,

First of all, thank you to all the people who have helped me and continue to help me as I learn the ropes. I have a lot of experience in vegetable gardening but LITTLE knowledge when it comes to growing medical herbs. However, I have grown great stuff thanks to your guys help and now I wanna take it to the next level. I have been growing outdoors and I also have been growing in a shed with an HPS light. The bud is great but the HPS electric bill gets high and the shed temps and humidity can be hard to control at times (mainly in July and August the shed gets way too hot to run a cycle). Therefore, I was looking to add a 3x3x6 tent inside my house and I was thinking about trying the Timber led Cobb Vero29's (I think they are called) model 4vs. I have read so many good things about these lights. However, I have yet to see pictures of finished product. I really want to get some top quality medicine so I was thinking a indoor 3x3x6 tent with the Timber 4vs might allow me to do that. What do you guys think? I would love to see some pictures of results from that timber 4vs especillay if you are running them in a 3x3x6 tent. It is my Birthday guys send me some pics to help guide me to help me make my purchase. Again, thank you all

I looked at them, but $$. So I decided to start back up with less expensive COB's. With the thought I will upgrade after 2-3 grows. Can't wait, one down 2 to go, lol.
Also, just a thought I'd look at a taller tent. You'll kick yourself when a couple plants jam after flip and you run out of tent. Just a thought. Looking forward to seeing your grow!

Agree on the taller tent. Got a gorilla 3x3 with extension and its 7'11". Makes stretch no issue. Plenty of headroom.

Just a heads up guys. Had to send my 2vl back to timber. The covers melted to the cobs. That's part of the reason timber is recommending cobs with no lenses.

Also know that if you can't use a lens you should always protect the LED from any sprays or sulfur vaporizers. As it is the surface of the LED reacts enough with stuff in the air causing them to lose output.

Ya, mine didn't even come with them, and I removed my reflector on my RapidLED too. They stated it was a 8%-10% reduction in PAR without the reflectors, no mention of melting. Yikes!

Yeah Timber said it was rare what happened to my light. Just used it for 1 run. Its definitely a factor in their decision to run without lenses. On a positive note, they sent me a 2 day return label and the light is already repaired and coming back to me. They replaced both cobs. One was pretty damaged. Just glad it didnt start a fire.

Quick update on the 3x3 tent with the timber 4vs. We finished the Southern Passion in there, and had a couple of Northern Lights Auto's hanging around while I waited for them to finish and the 4 feminized Grateful Casey Mix to be transplanted into 5gal pots. Now that that's all set, the tent is just rocking 4x Connoisseur Genetics Grateful Casey. Looking awesome after the transplant (they we root bound and unhappy before.) Pics below:

Hey man, I may be a little late to the party, and this is my first post on RIU. BUT I’m running out of a 4x3x6 with 3 different strains. It’s my 3rd grow and before this I did a couple seed to harvest micro grows in a homemade cabinet turned into nightstand.

Looks like we may be close on the same time frame from seed, I hope you post back in here I’d love to see your methods i.e. light distance, feeding, nutes etc.

Just got my second 2VL from Timber so our setup is pretty similar. Hope to talk to ya thanks

I haven't updated in a while, some major progress. Flipped to 12/12 lighting about 1 week ago now. Here's a bunch of pics:

I have a video on my IG from this am... now sure if I can link directly, but it gives you an idea of how they look this am. https://www.instagram.com/buddinggardeners/

The tent / room were running a bit hot, so I upgraded the intake and exhaust and changed the thermostat location to heat that room less. We're looking great now.

Likely to give these ladies a big leaf strip in a week or so, when the flower sites are more defined.

As far as the specifics...

  • 3'x3'x7' gorillagro tent
  • 2x 4" inline fans (for intake & exhaust)
  • 1x Timber 4vs, roughly 18" away from canopy at 100%
  • 5 gallon plastic pots with coast of maine soil, at week 6 I started to amend with greengro dry nutrients (veg) and now have started to use their flower amendment (1/2 strength for now)
  • Urb microbes 1 time a week with water
  • No topping, light training via the trellis. Will heavily defoliate.

I settled for a Vivosun 4x3 and kind of regretting it due to all the small pin hole size light leaks, but oh well not big enough to cause any issue.

Why did you not top the plants at all? Have you grown under that Timber before and if so how did everything turn out for you?

I have topped once already, been about a week and a half since, and they are recovered and bushing out. Got awhile to go before flip. Growing (1) Blue Cookies Fem, (1) Blackberry Kush Fem growing in 7G pots, and currently have (5) Non feminized Sour Berry Blue plants growing in 1G pots until I can sex them for sure. Not going to get anything but feminized from here on out it’s too much of a headache.

Both grows before this one I had had great success with a the trellis/SCROG. But I did find it very limiting not being able to move pots around. So I am debating this time to simply LST from the pots. OR, SCROG last week of veg-3rd week of flower, and then remove trellis and tie down limbs if necessary. In my head it should be ok because they should be done growing vertically & moving.

Also, what grid are you using there to keep your pots up off of the runoff tray? Using a couple boot trays right now for my fabric pots. They are a great low budget option but turned out to be more work than anticipated to empty runoff. So I’m going back to Tray and riser, but the perfect ones I found on Amazon are $8/each. Which I can do haha but it seems so foolish for a molded piece of plastic.....

I have topped and trained previously, and the last run of Southern Passion was flowered under this 4vs, but I've never let the plants grow out naturally, so I'm doing that this run. All I've done is bend to keep the canopy height somewhat uniform.

This tent is all feminized plants, and it's so much easier and straight forward. My other 3x3 is normal photos, and it took 6-8 weeks in 6" pots to get sex to show... Meanwhile my fem plants went right from starters to 6" then 5gal, in 2 weeks less time.

I was using some cheapo amazon risers, but I found my soil to drain out to quickly, so I removed them. I actually like having the water standing at the bottom of the tray. It allows me to bottom feed (which is great to inspire root expansion, and it seems to keep the soil damper longer, so I can go further between feedings. Check out Eastcoasterdam's risers, I think it's called Clean Roots, they are 10x more sturdy than what you can get on amazon. That said... I stopped using them!

I may end up regretting not topping... but I have 4 plants in 5gallon pots in a 3'x3' tent... so bushy isn't great. Hopefully we don't have absurd stretch. I'll be stripping the bottom 1/2 maybe 2/3rds soon as well, likely end of week 2 in flower.
