anyone use roots organics? or other soiless or soil mixes?

hey wet, i ran out of dolomite when i was working on my outdoor garden and borrowed some off my neighbour but hers looks different - i always get the white powdery stuff (like what you put down outhouses) but this stuff is gray and granular... (she gave it to me in a ziploc so i don't have the package to look at either).
got kind of creeped out by it and ended up not using it anyway but do you know what the difference might be?

I know this wasn't directed at me, but the espoma brand of dolomite lime is a grey granular form. It works fine, but doesn't release into the soil as quickly or easily.

thanks, will look them up...
maybe it's time-release? (*boooo*)
i was afraid maybe it had something else in it (like one of those lime/fert lawn treatments). (not that that matters too too much with my ornamentals but i'm kind of a dirtnerd these days...)

It's just the 'pelletized' version. It's good, just a little slower.

I have both, from the same company and the powdered is almost white and the pelletized is a dark gray/brown. Like, WTF???, but no problems with it. I mainly use the pellets in my garden, easier to spread.

I also use both in my mix. The pellets seem to kick in about the time the powdered is depleted and I also recycle my mix and that's mainly what their for, the next go round.

Wolverine, I can't say from experience, but I've heard that the Espoma pellets dissolve easily in water. Like they are powdered, but shaped into pellets with a binder. Like I said, IDK. A 5# bag of Espoma cost almost as much as 2-40# bags of what I do use.

MK, I'd go ahead and use the stuff.

Wet

Meh, doesn't dissolve very well for me. Or didn't I should say, I don't use it anymore. Neither did their epsom salts...

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Wetdog again."

gak. i'm over-repslutting myself out again.
thank youuuuu

Where is the best place to buy pro-mix in Canada, im in ontario. what large chains carry pro-mix / should my local greenhouses have it?

rona has it (at least mine does).
idk if home de pot does, but i think they carry sunshine mix?
my local nursery has both, but we're in farmland and they're kind of a crazy eclectic place...
it's a common enough product that most big nurseries should have it. get a compressed bale (3.8 cub.ft. or promix has a 1/2 bale that's easier to handle); it's waaay cheaper weight for weight and you know you're gonna end up using it... ;)

LOL, BOTH made in Canada. i'll smoke to that. *puff puff*

EDIT:sunshine is made with Canadian grown peat, in plants all over n. america. my mistake.
