I wish I could self sustain. That's a goal I hope to attain one day for sure. For now I'm happy with my closet full of crops, on my mint herbal teas that I grow, and toms and chilies and really whatever strikes my fancy that spring.
In my area there is a nice community garden I like to participate in...alone. This time is some of my precious alone time. I like to spend it out in some green gardens. (also on my canoe on a lake, which is just as if not more peaceful.)

i love growing plants to nourish my body and soul. we just ordered the 2012 garden seeds. going with a lot of greens. some herbs, a few tomatoes and hot peppers, english peas, to name a few. the company is called "Botanical Interests." its our first time trying them. we usually go with Johnnys seed, but they have gotten expensive.

horticulture is tricky to get into a good career position, i have a degree greenhouse management and all it has gotten me is minimum wage. 95% of all the labor is hispanic, and the othr 5% is usually family. most growers positions are held by inheriting family members. this was true even in nurseries. landscaping if your down with it , lots of that stuff is filled up too. just thought i should giveyou fair warning

I love the feeling that it brings me. Not only is it calming but it helps save money, makes me feel good that I am helping reduce greenhouse gas that products that are shipped from out side the state and country into the country. It also makes me feel closer to nature.
I have been thinking about taking a course that you can do from home and it cost some thing like $30 to $50 for the whole course.

If you want to get into growing stuff more look at courses that you can take that will teach you more about growing.

So my girlfriend came home from Micheals with a new toy for me. IN the kid science section they have a 'hydro-dome' lol it's for kids to learn hydroponics. It's a cheap plastic base with 4 net pots and has a clear dome that snaps in over top. It comes with a shitty hand pump to aereate the water lol although Ill be hooking up an airstone and a 10gal air pump. It comes with a pack of lettuce seeds too. My rockwool that came with the kit is soaking and I shall plant some lettuce seeds either today or tomorrow It fits perfectly in the corner of my flower tent. I'll post pics of the little contraption in the next day or two. It's kind of a funny little system, not bad for $15 bucks or whatever. looks fun for a lil kid kit! just make sure your 12+ lol

Hell Yeah!!! I take my tomatoes just as serious as my ganj, and probably spend more time with them. Just any way to feel connected with the land gets me going. If only being a farmer was not so risky and expensive to start up...I could spend all day walking around in my garden.

Plant lover as well as bud grower....im building two more container gardens in a couple weeks in addition to the two i already have......im fairly new to the gardening game with under 2 years experience but ive had moderate success with my fruits and veggies and great success with my marijauna......something about planting a seed and watching it grow reminded me that there was a god..wouldnt trade it for the world

Very true and some plants throw what we think about how they grow. The thing that confused me is when I say my basil plants growing 2 branches from the same space area.

Ok so here is my new toy, thought I'd share with everyone. I am just growing mix lettuce although looking at this thing, it might turn into a useful little place for clones...
IN here you can see my dome, behind that is a kiwi vine, behind that is a clementine orange tree that just finished flowering
looked and smelled so awesome, the entire room smelled like citrus.
I also recently saved a Jasmine plant that was ignored, left outside in the cold winter, and in a pot way too small. SO I cleaned it up, transplanted it in some of my own soil mix and put it in a big pot and now I've never seen it SO GREEN or lush before. I really wish I would have taken a before picture when it was leafless and brown looking like a charlie brown treee.

Sweet Carolina/Confederate Jasmine. I have that in addition to the nightblooming and orange blossom. I love the smell almost as much as the herbal essence. Nightblooming ftw.

I love working with many different plants so much that I make a living doing it. There's nothing more relaxing to me than tending to the garden. I've always been fascinated with how plant biology works and just watching them grow. I credit my grandmother for this. Anytime she would babysit me growing up I'd help her in the garden. She would show me all the different plants and their likes/dislikes and the diffent pests and stuff. I always thought grandma was the beat cook and she always told me its because she used fresh food from her own yard. I was hooked on gardening from a young age.
