anyone know what the hell this stuff could be??

my grandpa gave me this stuff today... at first i thought it was moonshine as it is clear and (as you see) in a mason jar.... told me it is some hardcore liquid fertilizer that one of my cousins gave him.... couisin got it from the school he went to... it is clear and smells like ammonia... gave him ample warning to be carefull with it and to dilute it in a gallon of water... let me clarify; on teaspoon to a gallon of water; i am thinking, just off the top of my head that it may be pure ammonia nitrate??? anyone have a clue... i know the pic doesnt help any, but figured i'd post it anyway....

That could be anything. Your best bet would be to talk to your couisin who got it in the first place. He would(hopfully) probably know what it is. No way for any of use to know exactly what it is. Your just going to get a bunch of guesses from everyone.

not possible... let me elaborate... i know it is a fertilizer and am pretty damn sure from my research it is ammonia based.... figured maybe we have some people in here who know about large scale commercial farming who could give me a little more insight.... at least point me in the right direction to find some info.... im leaning toward liquid ammonium nitrate....

haha... throw it away... or test it on a plant and repost i wanna see what it would do

i'm impatient... already put some in with a watering a few days ago... 6-8 drops in a gallon of water... made my plant green up by the next afternoon.... gonna test it out for real when i start up a new grow...
lets see if i can find some pics...

from what you described the first thing I thought of was anhydrous ammonia, we use it here in iowa to unlock nutes in the old corn husks and debris...in the fields for the next year...
but it would be worth more to someone who wanted to batch up some anhydrous meth over using it on your plant. And if it is anhydrous dont let it touch your skin it will freeze your flesh and burn off skin...dangerous.

while doing my research on what it may well be i came up with anhydrous too.. then i realized that i know that term from somewhere... and i pulled up the ole meth recipe from anarchists cookbook... gonna test it out on a patch of skin... see what happens... be back in a few:-P

DONT DO THAT, thats risky business man it will hurt like hell and not quit burning until its gone or the moisture is gone...better have some baking soda around to stop the reaction if it is Anhydrous because youll soon see the skin turn black and have a wound to the bone...man thats risky and if your gonna do it anyway use a needle and do it somewhere on thick skin so it dont go too deep...I wouldnt.
People here who steal it from farm tanks and have spilled it on their hand have lost all the skin and messed up muscles like no other, its some caustic Shite..that is if it is Anhydrous

must not be anhydrous then... did a spot on my inner forearm to be sure... no burns..

Well im glad you didnt get any burns Id feel bad for telling you that and you got hurt. lol. But damn now im curious, is it pretty darn clear or does it have a tinge? Hmmm maye not anhydrous, but could still as you said be some kind of ammonia. Now I think you should call your cuz or Gpa back because now im curious...lol

gramps has no clue; he was just told it was some hot fertilizer and given instructions on how to use it... its basically clear, except for some rust floating in it from the mason jar lid... has a distinct oily look, like oil/water, so i am pretty sure it is dilluted....

aw come on bro... i'm not dumb enough to paint it on my body, but i did chance a little spot on my arm... would not be the dumbest thing i've ever done... and i did have the baking soda handy... been about 10minutes and still no discomfort... kinda disappointed; maybe its not as strong as i thought it would be:?

OH a clue, you say oily looking, that makes me lean towards a polymer based liquid fert, smelling of Ammonia so its am based.... Yeah strong shite 4sure, most of those are rated at mixtures of like .5 gal to 99.5 gal...
Hmmm but alas this could be 1 of 1000 ammonia based liquid polymer ferts on the market. If your gonna use it try it on a donor plant with a weak mix and see what happens, thats what i would do.

the instructions say 1teaspoon to a gallon of water... but i only have one kind of plant i regularly fertilize:-P... and only one of them right now... so its my donor... so i used 6drops to a gallon of water; didnt kill it, it greened up:clap:... we will get the verdict for sure in a month or two when i start more plants... dont have too much use for strong nitrogen ferts in bloom:?

i wish i could help... but i think it kinda funny because i go to estate sales with the sole purpose of buying garden supplies and chemicals... old people buy some good garden supplies...

i would not smoke anything that this was used on

dont worry, you wont:mrgreen:.... but unless you grow everything you smoke, how the hell do you know what has been used for nutes?? and in all practicality; whatever this stuff is basically the same as any chemical nute... just in a suspension rather than a soluable, granular form:roll:... i guarantee you eat corn and wheat that stuff stronger than this was used on....
