I remember seeing family members licking there fingers and going around the joint to make it burn slowly, now either I'm not using enough spit or it don't work. When I take a hit sometimes the paper will catch and burn a big strip, burning the weed with it. :(

Yep try a grinder and a proper rolling machine, I roll one gram joints that burn long and slow like cigars even down the windy Beach. I use only Moon 100% hemp rolling papers

only time i ever do that is if the j's boating, well, that's the term i grew up calling it, when one side of the joint starts burning faster than the other side.
tighter rolled j's should burn a lot slower than one not rolled quite right..

Straight joints seem to boat more often on me than cone shaped. Still happens to me from time to time but its usually a clump i didnt break up fine enough. I have never used a grinder.

Use a grinder and put a toothpick on the paper while you roll it. Roll it tight...pull the toothpick out once you seal it. Works for me.

Just leave a little bit poking out so you can remove it before smoking.

EDIT :: Wooden BBQ Skewer's work the best but idk if you have those.

Pack em and tamp em. If its burning fast its due to the amount of air in the J.

    Notice the tamping tool.

how i learned to roll was just sitting there all night rolling, breaking it apart and rolling it with again. Just get a cheap pack of papers to practice with. It sounds like your not rolling it tight enough. Ive taught multiple people to roll but its easier to show than do and even on top of that people find their own techniques so thats why i also always suggest just sitting there rolling all night. Now my joints burn as slow as blunts.

I hate that. I always ask people if they really think I want to smoke their saliva. Might as well just french kiss me and get it over with. Nasty as hell.

If you can stand a little tobacco in your joint, mix some in, maybe about 10-25% cigarette tobacco. That seems to make the joints burn nice and smooth without any major runs. I guess the downside is that modern cigarette tobacco has been chemically engineered to burn "just right," so you're getting some of those mystery chemicals in your joints if you do that.

I can't swear this is true, but a dude who worked in a car repair shop told me years ago that American cigarettes were "designed" so that if you drop a lit one on the car floor while you're driving you don't have to worry about picking it up because it will stop burning if you are not hitting on it. That was nice to know because I was still a cigarette smoker back then and was constantly dropping burning Camels in between my feet while driving the freeway. The repair dude told me not to even worry about that, because it would not start a fire.

My joints run when I don't roll them tight enough. Mostly when my weed is a little too dry. I would try taking a skinny poker and gently packing your joint down slowly and evenly. If you pack too tight you wont get airflow.

It will take me 5 minutes sometimes to get a joint nice with dry weed too, so if your weed is dry and your a beginner that's a long road of learning ahead lol!
