Any female growers in Northern Cali?

Okay, so this is only my third summer here - and my first year of growing entirely on my own (spent the first two with a great mentor) - but I'm noticing the lack of female representation in this area. Sure, the ladies seem to make up the bulk of the trimmers and 'helpers' - but not actual growers.

Last time I was buying supplies (bamboo, nutrients, etc.) - I asked a store employee about one of the products I was thinking about purchasing. He smiled at me, told me that I probably didn't need the product (without answering my question) - and as I was walking away, chuckled with another customer - "Isn't she cute? She thinks she knows how to grow." Yeah, I'm a wuss. I just walked away. I shop at a different store now, though. Luckily there are plenty of them in the area.

Anyway, would love to hear from some other female growers out there. Feeling sort of alone out here in the woods.

I do have a girl friend (friend who is a girl, not a GF) who grows but she's in So Cal. She doesn't post on any forums and is very very down low about it. But damn that woman can frikkin grow! She's a punk chick from the 80's (She's in her 40's now) who would probably beat the crap out of Fungus Gnat for that comment. I keep telling her she needs to relax and smoke more bowls. She tells me I am not hardcore enough.

I didn't feel the need to respond to Fungus Gnat. Actually, I didn't have time - with all that cooking and cleaning I have to do every day. Sorry, that was sarcasm - not me trying to perpetuate any stereotypes. Sometimes you have to keep a sense of humor about such things. And yeah, smoking a couple extra bowls definitely helps with that :bigjoint:

I've been an organic gardener for the last 20+ years, and I know that I can grow circles around some of these boneheads. To be honest, MJ is one of the easiest plants I've ever tried to grow. She is resilient, responsive and communicative. She tells you what she needs and what she likes/doesn't like more than most plants do (in my opinion).

Anyway, I was really just hoping to connect with some women on this site. I love to grow. I love my plants. I'm absolutely not in it for the money. Just want to make enough to support myself and my animals - and maybe get a new truck (got my eye on a 1991 Toyota, to replace my dying 1987 Dodge). Don't seem to have anything in common with the male growers (at least not the ones I've met so far). It all seems to be about the money - or growing WAY too many plants - or growing ridiculously huge plants. Thought this might be a good place to meet some other like-minded women. Guess not :-(

Good to see more women getting into the hobby. I mean I would almost expect a woman to be better at this so I don't know why men would think the opposite.

The problem is growing is an art form... name one famous female artist off the top of your head?....exactly. Women lack reason and accountability and show no inclination towards artistic or strategic thought. Which is why them pretending to be growers is considered adorable, like a bear on a unicycle or minorities standing in line to vote.

Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe, Joni Mitchell, and Joan Baez are a few that immediately pop into my head. Just because men have held women down for thousands of years doesn't mean that they lack artistic inclination. Then again, how could I expect a fungus gnat to understand anything except how to be annoying.

I'm a female grower in northern california. I'm married and have two kids. My husband makes killer money with his own career while i farm full time and year round. It did take a bit of adjusting when i started on my own gardens a few years back. Originally, i did feel a bit criticized by vendors. Now as i have established relationships with retailers, etc in my area, i can walk into a grand opening of a hydro shop and they will pick up on my experience relatively quickly. It really comes down to how we, as females, represent ourselves in front of the industry and fellow growers (specifically men). Just be yourself and you'll earn respect as well as find some great friends in the business.

fumble here...female in Sacramento. Lol Angry...too damn funny ;) No, we don't feel the need to do any dick measurements. Just the need to grow good weed. Or bake it ;)

"lights up a joint" this is too all the Northern Cali female growers, I've met some around where I live and other places, and I've seen some FUNK plus the greatest thing I love is that a lot of the woman growers always baking me something to eat, try this try that.....I love it! my hats off to all the female growers, aint nothing more sexier then your lady friend out there bustin her ass with her 7 foot monster :)
