i just did because of a sick plant. i would like to know too. the raidoshack 60-100x sucks so i cant really see unless i jam it up a nugget. what is the status of hair color by the time of harvest usually. of course its by tricombs but what has happened with the hairs by this point?

ya you have to stick the radioshack microscope very close to the specimen but it gives a great view of the trichomes, which are the ultimate indicators in when to harvest

strains can differ in the pistil color at harvest but in my experiences they will basically all be orange to red then u still got another couple weeks sometimes more. calyxs should be swolen to size of a mature seed bract at least. cut at this stage i c hardly any shrinkage in buds after drying and curing. very dense and sugar coated. u will probably have a loose airy bud with a slight green taste and smell and not much weight after drying when cut as u describe.

yea.. i had to pull my girls early do to time restrants and deadlines i needed to meet last grow... sucked but shit happens right.. anyways they turned out more than fine.. and the pistils ended up darkening during the drying process... so they looked good too.. some were well over 25% white still and immature.. ended up being good smoke tho.. sucks i had to pull them because they would have been SSOOO much better.. but as was stated pistils have little to do with anything...

Just take a small cutting of the leaf around the bud with the trich's and then put it under the microscope. I have the same microscope from RadioShack and it gives great views of the trichs this way.

i just cut the entire tree at once.. i wait until the trichs are milky on the entire plant so i know the lower ones are at least close to being done.. but i just get it down all at once...

Radio shack one works great.

pretty much they will go from clear/white to cloudy/milky to amber over time. hard to see these buggers, I use a 10x scope and it works though a little more mag would be useful. I like it because I can just look @ the plant as it stands there I don't have to cut it off and go to a desk/station to view.

thanks 4 reply. i started taking 2/3rds at first cut and leaving bottoms 4 another week sometimes more. been getting approx. xtra qtr in weight . pushing them 2 the side to make room 4 new arrivals. prob not worth it if u got many plants. but heck, the xtra 1OO is nice anyway.
