Only rapists and pedos deserve it and usually they are locked away from it. The USA prison sytem is stupid. They should all be not for profit run by the state PERIOD.
Or legalize cannabis and get the dudes slinging weed out of there so you have more room for actual nefarious characters.
but it's the GOP which ushered in privatization..small government..remember?

this is what YOU wanted.

and there are consequences.

Those profits (my tax dollars) are aiding in a better world by build prisons overseas too!

Id rather the profits benefit society by brainwashing inmates. we should get something in return besides a person with a vendetta.

As long as we are talking about this, I find it sickening how guys snicker about male rape in our prison system as if the victims deserve it. Also goes to show how guys view rape in general.
precisely..until it happens to them.

one of our RIU members has been raped..some have been near raped, if you go with the 10%

like i said..mandatory Deliverance yearly..i've a feeling there wouldn't be so much snickering.

Would it be OK if I simply agreed with you on this?

I have a daughter and a niece and I'm pretty angry that the male dominated society we live in makes the world more threatening to them than it does to men.

What I don't understand is how you can see this issue so clearly and not see that white people, white men in particular also do similar harm to minority groups, making the world hostile and unsafe for them too. Unequal power and entitlement that white guys have is the root of all of this.

People like that don't just do it once.

From what is coming out about Kavanaugh, seems there is a dark underbelly in the judicial branch regarding sexual predators. The judge in Alabama too.
It's not being part of the judiciary, it's about the abuse of power, any power by people who are sociopaths.

They intentionally get to positions of power and are generally extremely manipulative and consciously aware of how to influence people.

Yeah. I've held back from expanding the scope to stay on topic but agree you are right.

This whole joke show with Kavanaugh and his wilding-buddies who learned cover up for each other at a young age is clarifying to me why so many of the wealthy are sociopaths. It's the privileged way they were raised. They never learned restraint. Gives me cause to think about some of the CEOs who are doing so much damage today.

Still, I'd be satisfied if we scrubbed these guys from our court system.

Nah, the CEO's youre thinking of are just chasing dollars at all costs, it's an almost extremist version of "fiduciary responsibility", but it's not a literal sickness. There is a distinction, not necessarily a big one, but one is based on a sense of responsibility and desire to "be the best" and the other is based on an innate inability to understand/empathise with the feelings of others.

If anything, I sympathize more with the sociopath because at least its not their fault.

Uh, not really. You and I keep getting wires crossed between founders and board appointed CEOs who manage large corporations. There is no way that a person in charge of a major oil company could not know the damage they are doing to the people and environment for a few dollars. Same with the big banks. Plenty of examples where corporations paid off enforcement officials at great harm to others.

Trump is another example.

Yet, if a "system" itself is reliant upon sociopathic means as a core feature of it's modus operandi, even when "nice and well meaning" people (non sociopathic ) use or control it , the result will be sociopathic.

Ergo, consider the means, since it is part of the whole.

Can you name ANY judges that aren't sociopaths ? I doubt it.

now you know i love you, but Bucky is right this time..poor taste.
Only if you believe the meaning to be the one he thinks I intended.

The ironical part, was I was attempting to point out how slaves will do anything (even to each other) that an authority tells them to do. Slave on slave violence was a tool back then, and remains an effective strategy today...

But, admittedly that message was not conveyed very well by the meme. I will endeavor to be more succinct and less "connect the dots" subtle.

Lemme see if I can.....

...STOP...Hammer time !

The nature of democracy (and every other manifestation of coercion based government ) insists that it cannot escape an unequal power situation.

The root cause is common acceptance and the misguided belief that thru a coercion based system, good things will be the result.

The individual is the smallest and most vulnerable minority, hence if you want to protect minorities, begin with protection of individual rights or continue to forever chase your tail addressing symptoms.

With all the good ideas Star Trek had, I always thought their promotion of, "Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few," was utter bullshit. That's completely illogical considering that was the Borg's mo. Did that mean the Borg didn't go about it properly?
