So i just bought a light set up from SupraSPL.. also plus rep to him for being awesome. its 2 CXA 3070Z4's running at 2.1 Amps each. he says the total draw is 210Watts. the rest of the grow is going to consist of a DWC style pot two 5 gal pots . growing 2 crop king seeds plants.. early miss and white widow. in a 4x2 tent and 6 inch fan to a carbon filter. im going to scrog the white widow and try to lsd the auto..my idea is that by the time the auto is in the last week or 2 of flower ill switch to 12/12 and start the white widow.. other lighting will be 2 UVB retile lights and possibly a large 80W florescent for supplement lighting.. if all goes well i hope to get about a 1/4 to 1/2lb...

the idea is to be able to get a light set up that is almost as efficient as a 400W HID or maybe better but still have the total wattage draw be less..okay i know its not fully efficient running with more juice than 1.4Amps. but in real life its about a 3% difference in efficiency.. and over the lumen out put of it.. it just makes sense, cost wise, to over clock 2 rather than run 3 at less wattage.. don't believe me do the math yourself. ohh sure it may not run as long.. so what 3 years over 5..by then these LED set ups will be cheaper or possibly even better...about that.. i was thinking for a ghetto rig LED set up.. ive seen LED light fixtures in oilfield shitter trailers.. the big aluminum ones with a diesel genny and tidy tank on it..anyway they have these odd LED light UFO looking fixtures in them.. looks like a cheap idea to snag one to stuff on top of a single plant.

Nice! I wonder if those are the 2 CXAs left I didn't buy off him. LOL I'm building me a 6-CXA fixture. Pretty much done if my splitters I want to use for the harness will hurry up and arrive. Going to check the status tomorrow if not screw it I'll cancel and make my own like the rest. Will be interested to see how the harder drive performs. Mine are going to be ran at 1.4A like most.

Just for the record ...
:P

Driving the CXA3070 at 2.1 A can't be nominated as "overclocking" ...
The CXA3070 array has a max driving current If = 2.8 A .
So,at 2.1 A ,a CXA3070 would be operating at 75% of it's max power dissipation .
" Overclocking" would be to Drive the CXA above it's max Vf ( > ~ 41VDC ) ,in order to force it
to draw more current than 2.8 A .Of course you'd probably need a liquid Nitrogen cooling system or
something of same cooling power to keep it "going" ....Like-wise with overclocked CPUs ....

As for cooling at 2.1 A ...

The previous design of mine with 4x CXA3070 Z4 ,at 2.1 A and ambient temp ~40 C ( !!! ) ,
has an average array Tc = 55 C.( As I'm being informed by the owner of the fixture...)
....
But then again with it's fans at max ( > 20 Watts ) and sounding like a fighter jet ,passing by ...
:-D
Keeping them 'cool' ( Tc < 60 C ) ,at 2.1A ain't an easy 'job' . ..
>:(

.......But as you've said ...
For 3-5 years of operation -only-...
Then ,I guess ,it's no problem if the Tc rises beyond 60 C ..

Cheers.
:peace:

I have a room dedicated to this prject it will be in a tnet like I said.. Im sure the CPU coolers and the room being 15 C most of the time if not a little cooler will help the lights stay below 60 inside the tent

as for overclocked 8350 fx....I just used the firmware to make it think it was a 9370.. but any faster than 4.7 and it shits the bed.

i got the lights in.. and i must say.. its the most professional home made light i have seen. SupraSPL has really out done himself on the quality of his product. from one man to another you should start a website.. and sell this shit bulk. . but that's another subject.. anyway i turned on the light for a test and OMFG the sun it scared the crap out of me. thinking maybe it was a little to bright for what i needed.. 2x4 tent...and its 2 cxa 3070's at 210W draw...but perhaps maybe not..

on that note i think i may need to add cfl lights to it. im going to be using a 2x4 tent. just like to know how much more watts of cfl i should put in to make it for good results

I have the 9370 processor and run it @ 5ghz easily I use a liquid cooling system from artic air and an arctic air snow revo 2.0 case with tons of legit fans then my mobo is an asus crosshair v formula z . I built this comp for my gf its pretty good but my i7 4820k is way better.

If you are a good grower you should get around 1gpw that would be around 200 grams of dried cured buds.

even the cheap Feit electric screw in LED bulbs are better than cfl...

im not sure i know what your talking about.. like those par 38 bulbs? if you could give a link id like to know more.. sorry i only really knew about cfl and those shitty 5W LED screw in bulbs...other than real LED set ups

i have a 9370 and i cant get it past 4.7ghz with out it freezing.. might not know the correct voltage and step settings yet though..its got the watercooler that amd supplyed with it.. doesn't get passed 50C even when cranking crysis3 at full graphics

so what is the most optimum watt per square foot? cause its 8 sqft...i have about 26 watts per sqft with the cxa alone
