You're wrong. Flat out.

I'm sure you're referring to castle doctrine. It applies only to your home (inside), office or auto in the event there is an intruder.

If I'm hiking and are simply cutting through your property and you shoot me, you are going to jail for a very, very long time.

If you kill me, it's 1st degree murder.
Did I say that? Did I say if you’re crossing my property I would shoot? Reread my post brother.

No, but it doesn't matter. Even if someone is walking off with your lawn mower, it is illegal to shoot them.

You cannot use deadly force to protect property, only your life.

Even if you shot him in the leg, you'd go to jail with him. Him for misdemeanor theft, you for felony aggravated assault.

https://www.propublica.org/article/the-23-states-that-have-sweeping-self-defense-laws-just-like-floridas

there are varying laws across 24 states that allow you some leeway, it is absolutely illegal in the other 26 states to fire a weapon at someone because they're on your property or stealing something. of those 24, you better be able to prove that you were in fear of your life, or the lawyers will destroy you. see what's happening to the dumbass in florida that shot a guy over a parking spot argument?

https://www.tampabay.com/florida-parking-space-stand-your-ground-shooter-arrested-manslaughter
they're now charging him with manslaughter. there's no place in the entire country where it's ok to shoot someone just because they're crossing your property. i live in Tn, we're on that list, but if you shoot someone hiking across your property here, you're in trouble. if you shoot someone because they're in your yard, you're in trouble. if you shoot someone stealing your car, you're in trouble. if they aren't actively attacking you or another person, you cannot use violence against them. that's the way it is everywhere, and if you think it's not, shoot the next fucker to annoy you and see what happens.

Happened to me right around the same time... I have a fairly good idea of who the fucker was too.

Fortunately my grow is legal and I have video. I had the police come out, filed a report, contacted insurance company -- if this goes the way it should, I'm going to put out a sign next year saying free marijuana -- insurance company is paying out big, lol

The part that scares me, is dogs aren't very hard to "take out", and if I lost my dog AND plants... I wouldn't be happy
it has bothered me for a long time that people buy dogs specifically for security. that's basically an insane dog that's been taught to do things that are against it's instincts. it's not a person, you can't explain to it that it only needs to be on guard in certain situations.
so you've just made a mean dog, that doesn't know it doesn't need to be mean 90% of the time.
a good devoted family dog will tell you if anyone is around, and you don't have to let it outside to get killed. guard dogs are just a way to make fucked up dogs

Be careful filling claims on your home owners policy. Insurers will cancel on you if they feel they are losing money on your business, and when you renew with another company your rates will be substantially higher. Insurance companies track this information and share it with all other companies via your CLUE report.

Not to mention cruel as hell, couldn't imagine leaving my dog outside all day and night alone.
