Ambient temps? Between the groups......
The two running currently are in the same tent with circulation. Temp swings up and down depending on light status and ambient garage temperature but light's on temps have typically been in the low to mid 80's.

I meant to drop an update last night on Day 19 to keep some consistency with my other lettuce side by sides but got tied up so here we are on Day 20.
To quote my old lady when I asked her opinion on the lettuce tent this evening - (with a look of confusion) "Are these all from the same start date??"

Brother @hybridway2 what say you home slice? I know it's not cannabis but there is clearly something biological going on here :peace:

Brother @Renfro , we still have not had a COB user pop in and meet the challenge of the title of this thread. Knowing that you are on a cob warpath as of late would you be willing to pop a single cob module together to see if you can replicate my results or just pop a lettuce seedling or two in the corner of your veg? :peace:

Honestly it would die. I forgot to water my venus flytrap.

What finding is it that you are trying to confirm? And what does it have to do with weed?

Just science brother, and it is information on lighting which is the section we are in. I know you know there is more to the world than weed even though that is the primary focus on this site bringing everyone together :peace:

A little day 24 intermission update until the full one tomorrow.
Maybe brother @Stephenj37826 can chime in here and help me understand what is going on.
A page back I posted a pic of this same lettuce variety growing under the HLG65 outside the tent and it seemed to be doing quite well.
Fast forward to this round and I am running the same variety in a 9 pack inside the tent and they are all just balling up bonsai style. I have played around with increasing the light distance (up to 26") knowing that the tent is increasing light levels but they still refuse to stretch out or elongate.
Definitely a head scratcher in my book.

Day 25 Update
The Metal Halide side has performed so well that I will be pulling the plug and harvesting tomorrow.
The MH plants are a solid 6-7 days ahead of the previous LED grows and frankly just spanking the crap out of the HLG 65. I would hardly call it a replacement at this point

What Kelvin is the hlg board? Do have the spd of the mh bulb? Brand?

Also think the distance of the led panel needs some tweaking, it's not an easy adoption....... Need a couple of rounds with new tech as usual.

4K on the QB.
Would have to some digging for specs on the MH. It is also 4k or 4100K.

Soo... now that your not in a legal spot and you have all that cob gear laying around, how bout setting up a small little lettuce grow to show us how well the lights perform? And don't use power cost as the excuse - we all know your a baller and can spare $10 a month. Plus you get a delicious salad 30 days later :peace:

Harvest results are in!
Keep in mind that the metal halide side was basically down 1 plant do to my thinning accident. Had that plant been a full one it appears the MH would have just nudged out the led on grams / watt.
The interesting #'s are the totals per 2x2. 976.7g for the MH and 608.2g for the QB65. As well as the g/sq ft #'s - 244g for the MH and 152g for the led (remember the MH is down about 70 - 80g from my bad thinning).
This to me demonstrates that the MH will produce much more and better quality lettuce per sq ft than the Qb did for me in this test.
So, brother @hybridway2 asks - couldn't you fit more plants in on the led side to really outdo the MH in g/w? Note that the channels are about 3" wide. The quality is terrible on the led plants and they are so tight and Bonsai'd that you'd have to make a BLT on Ritz Crackers for the leafs to be usable in a sandwich.
I am certain that this result will ruffle some feathers and the fanboy crowd will defend and call me a shitty grower and whatever but Brother OneHitDone just calls em as he see's em and in this side by side the Metal Halide is the CLEAR Victor!!

Yeah, because I don't have other shit to worry about....... Than growing lettuce.

How about you come over and help me paint & lay down some crappy pergo floors? Thanks

@OneHitDone how many hours did you run the lights?

"The formula for calculating DLI is: μmol m-2s-1 (or PPFD) x (3600 x photoperiod) / 1,000,000 = DLI (or moles/m2/day)"

DLI
Butterhead lettuce14-16

The total output listed on that lamp is 152 PPFD but doesn't say at what height. Even if you were getting the full 152 on the plants and ran it 24/7 you'd get a DLI of 13.

It has been a long time since algebra for me so correct me if I'm wrong

(DLI * 1,000,000) / (3600 * photoperiod) = PPFD ?

So you'd want a minimum of 162.03 PPFD actually reaching the plants if ran 24/7.
