Alexandria Ocasio Cortez isn't popular because she tweets but because of her stances

Excerpt from the WaPo article;

"But to House leaders at the time, such protection didn’t mean doing a good job for the voters and giving them a reason to vote once again for Democrats. It meant they expected freshmen members to raise money from plutocrats.

This “protection” involved misleading the public to make it look like Democrats, especially vulnerable freshmen, are engaged in populist policymaking when they are not. In one case, in response to the financial giant AIG offering bonuses to its executives after having taken a massive government bailout, leadership had freshmen Democrats sponsor a bill that would have barred unreasonable bonusesby financial institutions that had taken public money. The bill was designed to easily pass the House floor. But the Obama administration wanted to ensure that these banks could pay bonuses, so the bill wasn’t meant to be signed into law. Putting the name of freshmen on it let those freshmen take credit for being tough on bankers, but without actually doing anything to threaten banker interests."
 
Saying the Democratic Party has been wildly and self destructively out of touch with its own base is not 'radical'; it's the plain and simple truth. American voters had figured this out years ago, which is why the party lost over 1000 seats nationwide during Mr Obama's Presidency.

If the Democratic Party can realize its historic opportunity to move decisively Left, actually represent the interests of the majority of American voters and fight for us instead of the plutocrats, it can play a fundamental role in remaking our country into one which takes care of all its citizens- instead of only the richest one in a thousand.

Cortez is OK.

I'll take her statements more seriously if she actually does something significant in her day job.

good ideas....with no plan at all on how to achieve any of it....she's spending her time writing non binding legislation for pipe dreams...because it sounds like she's actually doing something, till you stop and think about it....
  • "upgrading all existing buildings" in the country for energy efficiency;
  • working with farmers "to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions... as much as is technologically feasible" (while supporting family farms and promoting "universal access to healthy food");
  • "Overhauling transportation systems" to reduce emissions — including expanding electric car manufacturing, building "charging stations everywhere," and expanding high-speed rail to "a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary";
  • A guaranteed job "with a family-sustaining wage, adequate family and medical leave, paid vacations and retirement security" for every American;
  • "High-quality health care" for all Americans.
all admirable goals....i'll take her at least slightly seriously when she starts detailing her plan to achieve these things....till then, she's another person telling everyone whats wrong, with no fucking idea how to make it right.....
