Had my plants in airpots for 2 days and WOW! Plant Growth is explosive, my plants have grown 4inch in 2 days and WOW, bushed up, perked up everything, very very impressed. Will post proof at daylight. Sooooo Impressed. Only transplanted few days ago and I've got to account for at least a little shock and the growth is seriously extreme. P.s waterings a dodle :bigjoint:

I have been using superoots airpots with COCO for a couple years and I love them. I just ordered a bunch more recently and they were not too much.
http://www.roguehydro.com/superoots-air-pots/ (I have no connection to this site, they sell the pots cheap with free shipping)

They have paid me back 100x over.

They are kind of like hempy buckets in that they don't look like they are doing anything - then the main root hits the bottom and BAM they explode.
Hempy buckets will cause roots to curl, superoots prune root end and allow more root growth.

I heard one complaint that, "I had to water it too much."

That is a good thing, it means your plant is eating/drinking and wants more.

I grow in probably too big of pots, 5.2 gallons with large trays. I water 1-2 times a day.
Sometimes I top feed, sometimes I bottom feed.

They are slightly more difficult to water than inferior flat walled pots. I deal with it for the faster/better growth.

The arguments I hear against them are

"They are messy/hard to water." Not for me. I have a tray.
"The dirt falls out the bottom." Maybe a couple teaspoons worth, it takes two seconds to clean it up.
"They are expensive." Yes they are. I don't care. I have used the same pots to grow well over 20 pounds.

I use one superoots pot to grow tomatoes outside. It is no worse for wear after 2 1/2 Summers outside.
The inside pots look like new after I clean them.

I'm curious to know what medium everyone is using in their airpots. I've typically used canna coco, which is excellent. But I'm on a run right now with Botanicare ReadyGro Aeration Mix and the growth has been amazing. Definitely going to stick with the ReadyGro. Dries out so fast that as early as the 2nd week of veg I'm having to water once a day in 5 gallon airpots. I love it. =)

I use foxfarm light warrior for seedlings and it is very much the same... like an airy sponge. For veg/flower I use roots as my base and I like it a lot. It doesn't dry out too fast or too slow and out of the bag never have aeration problems, almost not possible to overwater (with light warrior it pretty much IS impossible to overwater -- very easy to get dried out if you miss watering)

I just harvested a plant (she's hanging now) using my DIY 21st Century F & D system. I can tell you the combination of AP + lava rock + lp top feedings produced fantastic product and roots.

The roots are reddish due to lava rocl &/0r using a chili concentrate late in flower to kill a SM/aphid infestation. The roots were multi-layered, light fluffy- providing max surface areas for nute uptake. Extremely efficient

Is there a reason you use lava rocks? I used to use hydroton on top it's lightweight but provides the same protection to the topsoil. Is there a special reason to use lava rocks?

Are you saying lava rocks instead of soil???? how does that work? can you do it organic?
