Induction technology has been around for a long time. I wonder why it hasn't caught on if it's so great. You figure large warehouses would be using it everywhere, but I don't hear about that. I wonder if the claims are as good as they say. I can see how the bulbs will last longer, but not how it's so much more efficient with the understanding I have of induction technology. Atomizer might know more on the subject as it's in his realm of expertise. I'm just waiting for plasma to come down in price- then I might break down and grow with something other than the free halide that puts out the perfect spectrum and most lumens even from millions of miles away- imagine the energy that gives off when you see the dropoffs at just a foot or two from a man-made light... ;)

I'm not discounting EFDL's, just asking why it's not in widespread use unless the cost still outweighs the gains...
I dont think i`d want to be spending a lot of time in the near field of what is effectively a 2.65mhz transmitter/antenna operating at several hundred watts ;)

I was daydreaming about Amish aeroponics- picture a guy in the chamber taking sips off a straw and spitting water on the roots, the hp version has some pepper for him to inhale just before the next misting- lol...

I seriously considered buying an induction lamp awhile back. The allure of never replacing a bulb almost got me. Next time I drop $100 for a bulb, I'll try to keep in mind that I have a few more active brain cells because of it. I only wrap my kitty for the last half hour or so of cooking. Gives it that just off the grill flavor, and locks in the juices.

Sorry to bring back to slightly ontopic, but does anyone know how to homebrew a nute injector, or the cheapest way to get nutes into my tapwater? I've really been having fun with the endless supply of high pressure and if I can find a way to do this my whole property is gonna be on HPA... :D

I was looking at one of those topsy-turvy tomato deals and was thinking how it might be combined with hpa. So far I was thinking I could hang a 5 gallon lowe's bucket up with a netpot in the bottom and a single cloudtops mister in the top of the lid. The gravity would help really spread the mist around for coverage. Not quite sure how the roots will handle but I don't see much problem here. If it works there is alot of promise in doing hpa upside down as good coverage with very few emitters is possible. BTW- stock up on the silver lowe's buckets now as they are phasing them out for some ugly navy blue ones that are more like the Home Depot style which don't have the water bead up nearly as well- plus the silver looks way cooler if you ask me. :)

aerojunkie what material did you use for the inside your root chamber?
Polystyrene sheeting. It is one of the less expensive poly materials available and being that my insulation is of the same material I figured it would be easier to bond the two materials. However the 3m polystyrene adhesive I was using did not work as well as "great stuff" polyurethane insulating foam. the Great Stuff will expand so it is a good idea to weigh down the sheets with plywood and any form of dead weight. I also tape the edges as the foam tends to slightly seep out.

I don’t know where he got that information. We’re running the drivers @ 240 kHz. To equate that with AM radio bandwidth; @ 560 kHz we operate at less than half that bandwidth.

In lay people terms what it really means is that when compared to 60hZ magnetic or 50kHz digital ballasts we simply operate at a much lower current but a higher frequency to excite the gasses via the two coils that wrap around the glass bulb. The driver, cable and coils are all insulated and we meet all FCC standards for EMF suppression which without the use of electrodes is exceptionally energy and PAR efficient when compared to electrode style lamps.

See how many AM radio stations you can find that use 560khz bandwidth, when the medium wave band covers the range 520 kHz–1,610 kHz.
If you know any general or extra class radio hams, ask them to explain the difference between frequency and bandwidth ;)

See the thing about Atomizer is I don't think I can pin him to a single incorrect quote... The guy is a walking source of perfection when it comes to his info... We use spell-check while he uses truth-check :D
If ever he is cocky with his info, he's earned the right to be confident...

I think a single one of these could take your nute injector to the next level. I've been trying to rack my brain on ideas that would put one or more of these to good use. My system is pretty dialed for the most part, but a nute injector sounds like it could be challenging. Another notch on the belt, and .0003% closer to becoming the mad scientist that is Atomizer, lol.
