n8wi what type of light is that, i really want to add more light
I picked up that hum dingier at fleet farm for $40 bones! it is HPS @70watts and puts out 6,300 lumens! (not too bad for one plant)! wiring was the only sucky part!

what are you guys' views on led lights? i'm on like week 6 or 7, and think it's time to start flowering? ive got one plant in with herbs and just kind of did a test run with my AG and one seed to work out the bugs. have some black haze waiting to go into the pods next and then i wanna run some lowryder. my plant is tall and spindly and i was wondering why that is? i tried to keep it pinched, but i was afraid to hurt it. ive been using stock nutes and had the garden on strawberries. i just set it on tomatoes as per reading your like 700 post topic on the AG and i'm just waiting now. any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. also, a friend of mine told me to put some dry ice in a bucket in the closet with my plant for a the 2 days prior to cutting. he said it turns the whole cola deep purple. is there any truth to this or does anyone know? thanks for the advice and keep on keepin on

I just got this aerogrow system, waiting on my seeds from nirvana... I was afraid to use the grow pods it comes with, because they already have herb seeds within them (basil, parsley, etc) I was wondering if I could just place my seeds in a few 16 ounce cups and have them just sit in the water reservoir... Or would that be to much constant water? any advice greatly appreciated...
PS. just go get some Phosporous and Magnesium supplements, bout a tsp of each right b4 flowering.

hey everyone. this is my first post as well as my first time using the aerogarden. Today is day 60 of my first attempt. As you can see from the images below, I'm pretty close to the max-height of the hood and was planning on removing it today using the directions at http://www.aerogrow.com/community/images/stories/300416aa_repllamparminst.pdf. My next step is to get some S hooks so i can hang the hood higher and allow for more growth, but I have a question for those of you who have already done this: what did you do about the length of the cord that plugs into the hood from the aerogarden base? It only has a couple inches of slack as you all know and id like to continue using the hood rather than spend more money on different lights.

So is there a connector or plug that I can use in order to keep using the hood? I dont know if the hood is powered by the base of the aerogarden or not, so Im not sure how I should go about removing the hood and being able to still raise it without worry of the cord being too short.

Check out a local hardware store for a figure eight cord that is longer than the one that comes with it. That should help out. Nice job on the plants.

thanks for the response. the only thing is that the one that currently plugs into the light can not be unplugged from the base of the AG... its attached. Is there a figure 8 extension cord? I just want to know as much as possible before I go in asking for something I know nothing about, and then not be able to explain what it's for if asked. lol

you can splice it very easy.....just look for the writing on the cord, it is very small and should say somthing like "18awgx2c" this is like the gauge size of the wire, copy down exactly what it says on the wire then goto a hardware store and find and electrical cord that looks the same...buy some electrical tape and "wire nuts" (i think that what theyre called, they are like a yelow, blue, or green, cap that you twist onto two piece of exposed wire to fasten them together) than just electrical tape it together....make sure you line up the sides with the writing on it...it very easy just be observent and pay attention to detail.... you have to cut the light cord in the middle then expose and inch or two of the wire from the plastic by striping away the plastic, strip the plastic from your new bought cord and just twist them together then twist on the "wire nut" and electric tape it up....its easy
Peace

Thanks Tek. Sounds pretty simple. I will be doing this tomorrow. I can only assume i will be needing to unplug the AG before messing with the electrical stuff. Will unplugging it causes the AG cycle to get screwed up? Right now, im on mature growth on tomatoes. Will unplugging it send it back to initial growth?

Instead of splicing, I decided to just buy the cord and plug it into a timer so I can keep the cycle on 12/12 automatically. Now its about making the chain harness to hold the hood. I have never done something like this before but seems pretty easy. Did u guys who already did this put your S-hooks into the 4 holes around the sides of the AG?

lol mine is actually duct taped, i glued hooks onto the AG hood, then tied some wires around the hooks, and tped the whole things, it works fine,i wanted to drill screws into it, but thats going to be next grow

vegging in my aerogarden right now! Low stress training= a MUST for big yield with aerogarden! tell everyone who has this system that LST is crucial to help with scorching, burning, stretching and root rot

man, that looks great, compared to mine that is a monster, i wonder what it will look like when it is fully grown
