Let me start out by saying this is a low cost project, started in South Florida during mid October. This baby is about three weeks old. I started her in my mother's Aerogarden after the oregano didn't pan out. Tore the roots out and planted a seed from some REGS (probably of Jamaican or Colombian origin). After a week or so, I decided I would transplant the hydro seedling to a pot. I stuck her in a pot of Miracle Grow soil (reprimand me all you want about that, I know it's probably not the best idea-- I will soon transfer to a bigger pot with organic soil and worm castings). The Aerogarden is on a 17/7 cycle, powered with CFLS that seem to make basil flourish. For the second week I have been putting her outside in direct sunlight for the last couple hours of the light cycle, (and adding light to the cycle, thereby making it a 19/5 cycle), then putting the pot back inside in total darkness. I have no dehumidifier so the leaves are broad. I test the PH with no tester, just two samples of soil, one with vinegar and one with baking soda. No reactions = stable PH. Anyone have any input?

More pics would be nice what did you want us to input on? besides the fact that your starting in MG soil (i did at one point horrible to grow in) looks good your definitely going to need a timer for more stable lighting during flower.

how do you water the first one looks a little droopy but that could be from the pic looking good though are you going to try any LST? or topping fiming etc..

the plant that i put in MG soil is actually the one on my grow journal right now thats in flowering its a strain called Bianca (Afgan goo X White Widow X White Queen) shipped from Amsterdam i took a few sample buds off the other day and its AMAZING but i have 2 others (same strain) in different organic soil and they are growing a lot healthier then the first one did in the MG soil. From my personal experience the MG soil is really dense tends to only need watering once or so a week and the little "pellets" w/e you want to call them that are in it are a horrible nutrient that will be released through your entire grow so i flush every other watering for thos bastards (only in my MG soil plant)

LST is Low Stress Training there are a lot of different forms of it such as tieing etc...HST is high stress training thing such as Fiming (Fuck i Missed) topping technique and of course topping and super cropping there are a lot of good forums on RIU that will teach you about them the reason for doing that is if done right the different techniques increase yield and let people with more horizontal space rather then vertical space to grow

for instance you can turn a tall sativa into a bushy sativa with an even canopy if tied right. or main lined there are a lot of different training techniques that make your plant do different things

Sounds good, I suppose I don't have to worry about that for a month or two? I'm slowly acclimating it to the outdoors, where eventually I can put it on my flat roof (surrounded by 3ft walls). I was going to let it grow wild but I suppose I should keep it short and bushy so it doesn't extend above the wall. By the way, in a couple months when I want to start flowering, will I need to take it indoors for complete darkness? Will this increase my bud yield?

you can start lst/hst at almost any point the sooner the better imo if your doing it on your roof and only have 3 foot walls i do suggest you do some lst make your plant go from 3ft wide and 5 foot tall to 3-10ft+ width and only 3 ft tall etc..you get the concept im sure. If your going to do this outside i personally dont like to keep switching from artificial light to real sunlight (i have HEARD not from personal experience that switching your plants to much can cause them to "hermie out") not positive on that though. Personally if your doing it outdoor might as well keep it out door you just have to think about lighting times etc...if you cant get your 12/12 when its time to then stay in doors. complete darkness in the dark cycle is very important if you dont have it your plants can do all sorts of weird things such as turning from female to male or a perpetual veg cycle or no veg cycle at all really depends on the conditions. if you have the money id say indoor is the way to go in florida but thats just me

Great advice, thanks man... So I should just leave it outside? Does it need extra time? There's only 11 hours of sunlight a day right now. Does the direct Florida sunlight make up for the lack of hours? Maybe they'll start flowering at four inches. lol I would get about 1/56th the amount I need haha

i wouldn't suggest putting it outside this early if there's only 11 hours outside. like you said you would get almost nothing then. the extra lumen doesn't make up for the lack of light hours sadly

but what you could do is have it in door for veg until you want to flower it then toss it outside for flowering if its that close to a 12/12 cycle

Good idea. Should I stop giving it sunlight til then or continue giving it an extra 2 hours a day of sunlight?

personally i wouldnt be switching it all that often but thats personal opinion. I would keep it in veg under 18/6 or 20/4 or 24/0 depending on your preference then just toss it outside for flowering

if your cfls arent very strong then probably a good idea to give it that extra 2 hours of light but there are so many variables that go into that its hard to say
