Let me start out by saying this is a low cost project, started in South Florida during mid October. This baby is about three weeks old. I started her in my mother's Aerogarden after the oregano didn't pan out. Tore the roots out and planted a seed from some REGS (probably of Jamaican or Colombian origin). After a week or so, I decided I would transplant the hydro seedling to a pot. I stuck her in a pot of Miracle Grow soil (reprimand me all you want about that, I know it's probably not the best idea-- I will soon transfer to a bigger pot with organic soil and worm castings). The Aerogarden is on a 17/7 cycle, powered with CFLS that seem to make basil flourish. For the second week I have been putting her outside in direct sunlight for the last couple hours of the light cycle, (and adding light to the cycle, thereby making it a 19/5 cycle), then putting the pot back inside in total darkness. I have no dehumidifier so the leaves are broad. I test the PH with no tester, just two samples of soil, one with vinegar and one with baking soda. No reactions = stable PH. Anyone have any input?
