Aero: From Seed to Harvest w/o Transplant??

Hello,
I am preparing to build a system like this:
https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/22362-30-minute-6-plant-aero.html

Not clear on what exactly needs to be done to go from germinated seed to aero garden.

Can someone explain the steps between germination and when the plant has enough roots to go aero?

In the thread (above) Fletch shows a small bucket with 2" net pots used to start seeds or clones. The main aero bucket has 3" pots, so I assume you need to tranplant from the one to the other. How can you do this without destroying the plant?

Can someone explain or show a link to the steps between germination and root?

Thx

you need to germinate in rapid rooter, or peat pellets or whatever your choice is intill there are plenty of roots coming out.... Then set them in the net pots,(i try and get most of the roots in between the slits so there hanging down without touching the roots.) and cover with a neoprene collar and set them in the aero set-up and fire up the pump and lights...

also you dont switch net pots sizes. he is just showing you a couple different ideas on how to build a clone machine. The 2nd one is just smaller and has to use 2in to fit more in the lid. you use same size netpots for clone machine as aero setup. that way you take out them out of machine and set in aero. Its up to you to decided what size netpots your gonna use and what will fit your setup. I personally use 2in. and works perfect. Unless your gonna veg for a month or 2 in an aero then you need atleast 3in stem will get huge if you veg that long.... hope all this help!!

Thanks, thats exactly what I wanted to know!

So basically, once the seed germinates, you insert into rock wool, with rooting hormones, and place under floros. Wait about a week to see roots develop.

The rock wool should maintain enough moisture so that you dont have to set up a watering system for them. (Is the same thing true for clones?)

When you see roots, you carefully thread roots through net cup, and start on aero.

So is it safe to start the newly potted plants under full light, say 400W HPS, or is there a transition phase where you are in the main aero tub, but under floros?

Thats exsactly it, the rockwool should hold enough water per day, i use RR and have to water then just a little bit once a day. ya same true for clones but once you have roots coming out a couple inches you wanna put them in the aero or the next size up rockwool you dont want the root tips to dry out or to get light to them, this will kill the roots pretty quick.. if you useing a cloner then its all good no light should get in the resivor anyways... the roots will eventually make it through the netpots them selves but i try and get as many hanging as possible just for reasurance. its safe to start under the 400w you might wanna start out at say 24" high first day and move closer if things look good. i take my clones from under a cfl, straight to my 1000hps and start at 24" then next day 20" then next day 16" and even closer if things are good(ive got and air cooled so 12" is the closest) No transition phase just wanna make sure not to burn them so start light further away and move closer and your be fine.. hope this help!!
