Acrylic cooltube???

I was wondering would it be possible to safely use an acrylic tube for a cooltube without it melting I read on a website that acrylic can be used continuously at 70*c which is 158*F. would this be safe?

IMO i would say no. if your exhaust ever crapped out it would melt. i have used a thermal heat gun on a 400 watt hps. ive seen between 350 and 400 degrees F

with a floor fan blowing directly on the bulb the temp showed 320 degrees F.

i would think that even with the exhaust running it will turn the acrylic yellow

yes no go unless you use flourescent tubes, which are more around 150

hey i picked up a couple of those pyrex bake a round tubes from ebay for my cooltubes.

i seen them a while back but i wasnt sure if those were the right ones they looked kind of skinny so are those the ones that everybody else uses on the diy cooltubes i wasnt sure but if they are im gonna pick up a couple thanks guys peace out stay green ......widow

do a search for BAKE A ROUND TUBE the dimentions are approx. 14" long by 3.75" in dia. will work nice for a 400w hps bulb.

Auction ended last week 2 pyrex shipped for $16. I wanted to win that auction but i got stuck out of town
