While dealing with kingbrite, I had all that figured out before even making order or sending payment. When you are shopping alibaba it is best to contact representative from company and agree on price, including all taxes and duties incurred. $285 for both kingbrite qb288 delivered to door.

I purchased from Alibaba and after I placed the order I noticed the possibility of a duty fee. I contacted the seller and she said that there would only be tax if it was over $700 USD. My light came in at $650 shipped so no tax. Best $650 I ever spent. Got me a Ferrari light for a Pinto price.

Has anyone else had any issues with vat, import tax etc when buying through alibaba?

A couple of months ago I bought a led from alibaba, a few days ago I received a letter saying that I've got £61 to pay FedEx ???

How do I stand?
Couple of month? My alibaba orders use DHL Express as carrier and arrive 4 days after shipment which includes customs clearance. I pay the fees to DHL Express when they send a invoice.

I actually love that this is a option. Some years ago u had to wait for the mail for custom clearance, pay up, and then they forwarded it. Added about a week on everything that needed taxing...

Tell the company you no longer want the item and to refund.
This doesn't only apply to alibaba or "them places", it's just duty tax. Yes it sucks but its not like its hidden. Can't remember once I didn't have to pay up..
I don't order anything from anywhere that includes customs tax.

You say it's not hidden but the seller don't tell you how much it will be and the buyer don't have a clue so yh it is kinda hidden. I know about customs charges but never amounts for specific things. I only buy from my own country because I'm impatient and don't want to wait months for something that also has a hefty charge added to it.

How much was the item, did you pay import tax on it already?

Just the government gouging you for buying stuff from outside the country, it's standard practice. It can get worse. I am in Canada and if I order from the USA and someone ships USPS it is only tax and duty fees but if they ship UPS those vampires charge ridiculous amounts for what they call brokerage fees and the more expensive the item the more those parasites rip you off. It always amazes me how those scum bags can charge you a brokerage fee based on the value of the item like it's not the same 15 seconds of paperwork for a $100 item vs a $1000 dollar item. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do.

It happens when you order anything of value from over seas.

This is what I was trying to say in another thread and used my silver rizlas as an analogy, they used to be 5 for a £1 at bargain store, now 3 for a £1, so watch out cuz of this brexshit shiz, people will be getting stung especcially when they order rizla online and it comes from china and you thought it was local

More often than not it’s to do with value of order.

I’ve ordered some eDab pans etc from fast tech and because they always put the price as under $20 it never requires additional surcharge when entering the U.K.

also if the supplier is sending via FEDEX USPS PARCEL FORCE etc they add a handling fee too.

At start of covid I bought like £500 stuff from the states to uk, the seller was sure I wouldn't get additional charges, worked out about £13 to pay royal mail or they wouldn't release, so I let the seller know that I was charged and that I wasn;t upset but to make sure to let others know as some people would go flipmode over any additional charges, well dependant on amount

Ffs the plot thickens... I spoke with FedEx this afternoon they claimed its been outstanding for some time and they have sent me 5 letters regarding it.. Bollox they did.
I told the chap that I was prepared to pay the original amount but not a penny more, he said that he couldn't alter the figures i told him to take the appropriate steps I'll not be paying it.
I can't live with this pish of adding £20 for a letter, they can go fk themselves is my current thoughts?
