600w MH Retro problem

HOPE this is the right place and if the thread already exists please just give me a heads up :)

Anyway,

The problem is i have a 600w Growlush HPS ballast. I also have a grow lush 600w HPS bulb. Both work fine.

I recently got a powerplant 600w MH retro conversion lamp to use in the ballast and when i FIRST used it it struggled but EVENTUALLY fired. Now however it just wont fire and seems to lock up my ballast for a good 5-10mins (its locked atm....hopefully it comes back on soon). After the 5-10mins i screw the normal HPS bulb back in and it seems to work fine.

That said this is only the 3 time (1st being ok then the second and third failing) i have tried to use it, but i want to ask for any ideas on what might be the issue before i play with it some more and do damage.

The fuse seems to be ok on the ballast and just to be sure i switched it. There also does not appear to be any noise such as humming (few other threads report ballast humming and even "exploding")

Any ideas on whats happening? and more importantly how to fix it? My poor Jock horror needs thier light!!!

Safety - No over running of the lamp, these lamps are specifically designed to run on the one set of HPS gear as supplied in the PowerPlant Ballasts.

That is from the link you supplied.

A regular MH can be used with a hps ballast, but the bulb will not last it's full life, but a HPS bulb can not be run with a MH ballast.

Bad bulb choice, since it clearly says it is "specifically designed to run on the one set of HPS gear as supplied in the PowerPlant Ballasts"

It was not a poor choice so to speak, as i saw that straight away so i asked the shop owner if it would work in my Growlush ballast. She assured me it would. As is she has now offered for a store credit or refund as her information she told me was wrong and understands this was "her fault".

ok, I thought you bought it off the link you posted. Show her that info, she is in the wrong.

Yer i did buy it from the site i posted. It was that line about working on Powerplant stuff that made me ask her the question to begin with.

That said another Aussie member is running a JB ballast and a Powerplant retro and is finding no problems at all.
