After reading other posts on different sites ive decided to experiment with lighting schedules. I know im going to get a few negative comments but im doing it anyway and tomorrow morning will be day 1. Im using 3 sweet fast bud plants that are about 4 weeks old that have been vegging under cfls for 18/6. I will be switching to 250w hps cooltube. If these were regular strains they would need at least 12 hours dark but there autos so heres where i think it might work as it dont matter about dark with autos.

Reasons?
I dont think its been done as i cant find a journal with 6/6/6/6
maybe be done in half the time
fans running all night does my nut in

my schedule will run:
6am on, 12pm off
6pm on, 12am off

Not trying to tell you not to do it as it's your grow, but hps lights use extra electricity when they first start up. The more times you turn it off and on, the more power you are consuming vs just leaving it on.

The power serge at start up is only a few minutes, still not going to matter if the grow finishes in half the time!
half the time, half the power. if it works out they get 2 cycles in one 24hr day! My main reason isn't about saving electricity although personally i think i will.

Try it , but if there was a way to get it to finish in half the time, it would be the norm. As it is, most auto growers tell you that 18/6 works better than 12/12. I don't see it working, but keep us all posted.

Ok so its day 2 and not sure whats happening, im doubting if these have the auto gene as they are 4 weeks old and only showing a few pistols which have been there for about a week. I've had autos before that didn't auto and i had to 12/12 the bastards after nearly like 6 weeks. If these dont auto i don't think this experiment will work as they will be regular and need 12/12.

Personally, marijuana has evolved on earth as every other species has over the last 300 million years give or take a few, to start throwing in a monkey wrench like this, not sure its going to work. But I also like the ingenuitiveness. So keep at it and let the community know. Good luck.

yeah i side with the rest of em...switching to 6 on 6 off wont speed up your flowering time. its still gonna take just as long and probably result in fluffy buds.

12 on 12 off is ideal (trust me). going down to 10 or 8 hrs in the last wk or two is ok (and some prefer it to squeeze out every last drop of thc possible)...

i sometimes do that (going 8 on or 10 on the last week or two).

the fastest flowering plant you'll get is the fastest autoflower you can find (not sure which is fastest) but i'd imagine 60 days from sprout or so...i heard theres one that goes in 44 days but i think thats flowering time only...not the veg time autos have (which is usually 2 wks)

this is rather pointless.....:eyesmoke::eyesmoke::eyesmoke::eyesmoke: auto flowers already have a predetermined life span......so how could it get done faster??.....you should of just tried it on a regular strain if anything......then your hypothesis would of at least been relevant......

it wont work w/ a regular or an auto. hes not gonna be able to "fool" the plant into thinking 2 days is only 24hrs long total (6 on, 6 off, 6 on 6 off).

Giving up and going to a more auto friendly schedule as im pretty sure they were staying in veg. changed light back yesturday and noticed a change today so it dont work or at least not for me. But i found out for myself not for some of you to tell me. So fucking negative some people

Dude nobody is being negative but you.......autos have a predetermined life span light schedules won't trigger anything........we are just trying to save you some time....
