You'll have plenty of room in a 4x4 to hold about 16 plants, whether or not the light coverage is good I don't know. I use a 2x4 under 400w in my veg, and a 3x3 under a 600 super HPS in my flower, I do about 8 plants under that but I'm limited by tent space.

600w is not enough to fully cover 4x4, the minimum light should be 50w/sq.ft so the 600 would cover 3x4. the number of plants depends on strain and vegging period.

over a 4x4? what do you mean? and i still havent got a an answer on a good feeding schedule and if 15m every 30m was to much. i do that just to avoid the roots drying out. if its not needed please let me know..thanks to everyone thats helped me so far. +respect

I feed for 15min every 2 hrs on my 4x8... off at dark on 12/12 schedule

thank you very much, your the first one to answer that question for me. what about when your roots start to come out the bottom of your pots and theres no water, just the light? is that bad?

yeah that's not good for the roots, you could put a coco mat down, it will hold some water and help with the light some...Good luck JR

In my 2x4 veggie garden, I feed 3 times/day for 15 minutes. Any more than that they didn't like it.

its not good to overwater....they breathe O2 like we do, dont drown them
How would you overwater in fill and drain?
When the water is getting (and keeping) pumped in the reservoir, there is plenty of DO in the water.
The moment the water flows away, there is plenty of O2 in gaseous state.
So overwatering seems impossible to me in this system. But perhaps I misunderstood.
In hydro systems like DWC, RDWC, Waterfall, E&F and such, it is nearly impossible to overwater.
In soil or cocos... yep.
Because there the still standing water lost all the DO that was in it, and the water blocks the airgaps between the grains (or how you call this?)

Some tests done by scientists would show that multiple irrigation cycles would result in larger plants or fruits.
The reason for this would be that they can take in nutes at more times a day.
There is simply more water, oxygen and nutes available: The 3 things that roots need. It is available when they want/need it.
So IMO it is better to have as many cycles as technically possible during lights on.
I would not know what would be the reason to have less cycles. But perhaps someone can come up with a valid argument.
