4x4 Tent Question

Hi Guys,

Its been awhile since I last posted.

I have a 4x4 tent... Used it for 2 or 3 grows since I put it together

Inside is a Sunsystem XXL Magnum Hood (6")
400 CFM (6" Hydrofarm inline fan ducting outside)
2 Honeywell floor fans.

I have 4 (5gallon SmartPots)

50/50 Coco-Perlite and GH Flora Series and BioRoot @ 800ppm through entire grow

Keeping it very simple. A buddy is saying that my space is not worth-- my time, money and basically not worth doing... he says its cheaper to just buy flower rather then growing my own .

What are your guys thoughts?

my last yield was I believe around 11 or 12 OZ. ( 4 plants ) 5 gallon Pots. (1000w HPS) 4 week Veg 58 Days Flower

EZ and HG!

Depending on how you grow then you can get much much more from a 4x4, I have used them smart fabric pots and they out perform plastic pots imo give it another go and prove him wrong... how much does an oz cost where your from?

Yeah, he is talking shit. With that set up, especially your 1000w and nice hood you can get a lot more than what you have previously, add to that the smart pots and dial in your strain you will be laughing dude! Tempted to say add another week or 2 to veg and train them so your nice and even. your light should pull you double what you did last grow.

Your mate is so completely full of shit it's a shame it can't be composted...12 ounces for , what, 90 days work/fun?
Grow your herb and sell it to him (:

Thanks guys, yeah he is a new "friend/acquaintance" I told him its for fun/ and also personal medical holder in the state of Washington to which he reply medical authorizations are "No More" which is also false because they did away with the higher amount and plants count SOOO now instead of 14 plants you may have 6 plants. I'm running 4 and instead of 24 oz you may have 4 oz (Which makes NO SENSE) but its the state's way of saying you can buy from us when your supply runs out!

YES basically a 90 day grow. $150-175 an OZ.... I can get $200-$230 Donations .... HE says HE can get for $100 but don't believe him when he is donating to ME!!

On another note.. Besides training and vegging an extra week what would you suggest I do to increase my yield?

I would like to prove him wrong with quality and quantity !!

I'll take the Pepsi Challenge !!

with a 4x4 tent. Do you think 5-6 Weeks will be to big when I flip? they typically 3x the size ... I'm afraid I wont have enough space for 4 its a tight area

you should be able to yield up to 24 ounces with 1000 watts and 32ft³

4x4=16ft² x lets say 2ft of canopy depth (the plant matter that will actually get quality light) = 32ft^3

Thats typically the amount of space needed ( depending on strain) in order to grow a pound & a half

When i ran 5x5 with 1000w and 4 girls vegged 4 weeks i had no problem harvesting 1.5 lbs. Once that equip is paid for then all your expense is paid for excepts dirt, nutes, bulbs and elec.... so... what... maybe 40 an ounce is your cost depending on elec rates...

Not sure how that is a waste of time even if you go by 100 ounce to buy...

If you want to prove your new amigo wrong & that he's a total culero. I would focus on a few key points.
*Strain: It's generally not that big of a deal compared to other things when it comes to yield, but it can be. Might as well set yourself up for success by choosing a well known heavy yielder. Like blue dream or green crack or whatever.
*Train & top your plants for sure. for sure for sure. Do some research or watch some videos on "scrogging" like a few people above me have already mentioned. Starting early with a nice "topping" of your plant will allow it to bush out; especially with your help. (bending, pinching & a screen.) No matter what this will increase yield; more tops, less spread out receiving maximum light.
*Space. & using it efficiently. Maybe the most important thing to consider here, especially because you already have a specific area to work with, your tent. It's critical to utilize every ²inch of that 4x4 16ft².
But be careful, dont confuse maximizing your usable space with overgrowing your plants vertically. Check it, your goal is a super dense canopy of just tops spread evenly, well that canopy of tops you only want to be about 2 ft deep, or tall, whatev. Because ideally no useful light will go deeper than that, making all plant matter below that 2 foot (givertake) mark a waste. of time and resources like water, nutrients & co2. Like if you end up having to lolipop a shit load vertically, to me means you could have flipped to flower sooner because you already had enough plant for what you needed.
*Co2. Add it. find a way. whatever works for you and your budget, add co2.
*Grow em healthy, dont let them dry out too often & be ahead of the game when it comes to pests

You probably already knew most of that sheeyut, i was mostly reminding myself what to do when i finally get around to setting up my 4x4.
those are a couple things i think i know, hope it helps

Yea your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. You can do a perpetual in a 4x4. you just need a veg room, shelf, (or cab).

personally if you only doing 4 plants at a time, switch to 5g pots, then train and scrog. Also 1200 watts is about what i found perfect in 4x4.. (two 600w) hps systems work well. I also had really excellent results a 600w hps, and 600w mh. more leaf, but has some interesting overall effects on the grow. (imo).

Your doing great, there is room for improvement, but if you about buying that 11 oz your growing its gonna cost you way more than what your spending at the moment. You might want to downgrade to a 600 watt light as they are more efficient and probably make it easier to keep your grow room cool. Sometimes a 1000 watt can be too intense which makes the buds softer and lower in resin.

I don't think I can fit 5 plants in a 4x4 am I wrong when I say this?.... I usually got them 2 and 2..
