40W Tube lights?

I looked online for any information on this, but could not find any. My situation is that I have a two florescent tube lighting fixture that could fit either a 34w or 40w tube bulb. Now my question is how many plants could I start with this fixture during a veg stage?

partly depends on your strategy, SOG with a larger number of small plants
or vegging fewer plants to be flowered at larger sizes

t12s are only good to veg with they have low lumens, and dont penatrate well. how long is it 2 or 4 foot? you can veg has many plants has you can fint under it but not for very long though

THey are four footers. And its just long enough to offset a little bit of the electric bill, instead of running a HPS full time.

t12? t8's are like 1inch diam. how scronny is a t12 i've never even seen one. i prefer the t5's cuz there the fattest out of the ones available locally

I am pretty ignorant. What does the whole T12, T8, and what not stand for. I assume for thickness of the tube.
yeah, it's the tube diameter - t12's are the older style, thick tubes - pretty much good for vegging but they have been used to flower
just understand that your results in flower will not be thick bud

A 4ft light fixture will support up to 5 plants up to about 13 inches each. Your welcome.

Another question. Where would I go to find a 54 watt 4' tube fluorescent? Home depot nor lowes seemed to have them.
