What would you do? I had a similar post in grow room & design but it didnt draw much attention... anyway, I improved the temps as much as I could without spending more money. I am really hoping I can run both light, especially during flowering (the air comes from outside, I am thinking it will be colder in the winter). Thanks in advance for you opinion!

28°C is not to hot, imo the plants will appreciate the extra light and heat, as we get closer to winter the temps will continue to drop, you will be fine in that regard.. Just make sure to keep an eye on your humidity, 40-50% is good, any more then that your' risking bacterial. fungal. bug growth.. All in all, I would use both, I currently have a bakers dozen babies vegging, they are 4 weeks old and they are sitting under a 400W CMH, 3x 40w 4100k cfls, 1x 26w 6700k repti glo 2.0, 2x 40w t12 48" cfl's and 1x 13w blue cfl for a little extra uMPH.. :D... I hope my input was helpful. Cheers

ps.. Where did you get your carbon filter? how much? Nice set up +Rep

Thx to both,

Josh,
I got the carbon filter in a kit off of ebay, I gotta go buy bigger pipe to help the air flow better, .. no where near smell time anyway!!

4inch INLINE FAN CARBON FILTER.jpg

what kind of light is a CMH?
and how do you get all those going : 3x 40w 4100k cfls, 1x 26w 6700k repti glo 2.0, 2x 40w t12 48" cfl's and 1x 13w blue cfl for a little extra uMPH

I mean I wanted to buy a few bulbs the other day at home depot but the only socket I could find that I could screw a bulb in and make a connector for it had no ground, just + and - ... do you have a grow journal so I can see your setup1?

Hey, here's an update to my journal https://www.rollitup.org/blogs/blog17063-update-week-4.html Ceramic metal halide is http://tiny.cc/r2ijd and the light that I am using is something like this... http://tiny.cc/olf5o I picked it up off a guy on kijiji it was a great deal for the socket, ballast & light i paid 80$.. I am thinking about getting this bulb for my next grow. http://tiny.cc/ior6j it has a greater cri% and a 5000k light temp.

ps. as you see.. i have 2x light reflectors, 1 i got from home depot, the other from a pet store, i would check out the pet store, if money isn't an issue they usually have quality reflectors between 29.99$-59.99$ depending on size and Watt capability.. I also have a clamp work light from dads shed :) which i attached a dual socket to that i picked up from canadian tire. All of my lights are attached to a power cord which is attached to the timer, except the 400W that is connected directly to the timer seeing as it is a double socketed timer. :) my temps fluctuate around 72-83. depending on time of day, but it is getting colder out so it is likely temps will drop a bit between now and harvest no big deal.

pps. I hope you like the pics :D I updated my grow journal because of you.

so the CMH is it just the bulb, can I buy a CMH bulb and put into my regular MH? also, those socket you have, when you hooked them to a cord did you use a adapter or something or just a + - without a ground!? anyway I am looking at cheap LEDs instead of CFL for supplemental lighting. It looks like your MH could be lower no? cool man I ll be following

Well you can start by searching what bulbs are available with your ballast, what happened with me is that I picked up a 400W Pulse Start Metal Halide Ballasts 60Hz ANSI M155.. This is a list of some standard metal halide bulbs. http://www.venturelighting.com/LampsHTMLDocuments/standardmetalhalide.html#400W vs some Uni-Form® Pulse Start http://www.venturelighting.com/LampsHTMLDocuments/Uni-Form_400W_lamps.html as you can see the pulse start has 2 bulbs both with 90+ CRI and 30500 lumens with a 5000k light temp.. So tbh if your ballast can hold the bulb or not..? i dont know, but google does.. lol

I agree with lowering the light I just set it up today and I wanted to see how hot it would get in there, so far so good, i will be lowering the light tomorrow.
Which wires are you talking about? the ones for the 400w? the 400W came as a hanging ballast, i went to a electrician store and bought some (high temp resistant electric cord), about 6 meters i cut it in half and extended the + / - by 9 feet so i could hang the bulb and keep the ballast outside of the closet, eliminating heat and avoiding the problem of hanging a 25+ pound ballast over my dear babies.. :)

I to am considering going the LED route to assist in flowering, I was thinking about investing 1-2 90W UFO lights or something of that nature for the Flowering, but I am also certainly going to invest in a 1000W Hps within the next 4 weeks.. I dont know what your thoughts are on UVB lights, but I will throw 2 or 3 10.0 repti glo's in there the last 2 weeks for a little extra thc production..

I hope my info was helpful-

By the way, i double check and found the answer to your question Endur0xX. If your socket is an open rated socket you need an open rated bulb, if your socket is a closed rated socket you can use either open or closed rater bulbs, I found a place online that will probably have the bulb that you need, Hope this helps :D http://advancedtechlighting.com/cdmallstart.htm

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see the section on open/closed sockets and bulbs etc.
