cool I just took my timer out of my 5x5 because I dont have anything going right now. I have it set on 18/6 now that they're above the soil

I dropped the light within 1' of the plant and dropped lux down to 5k
Is everything still looking dandy?

Have you considered having this thread moved to the LED section or the micro cab section?
I don't think grow room design gets as much attention apart from me and Renfro :bigjoint:

lol I don't know how to move the page
the seedlings are looking good . teeny leaves I'm thinking of upping the lux a little more up to 8k or so. At first when measuring I was doing it with the door off, then I realized I needed to add the door back and the reading were much higher
I am looking for a new oscillating fan to set up in there. The vivosun one I had literally is broken now after less than 24 hours of use. It was making a clicking noise I will not be buying any more of these. I'm thinking maybe a tower fan on its side at the top of the chamber almost like a minisplit oscillating down

If you want the thread moving just ask @ sunni or rollitup
PC fans might be useful, they can create a nice breeze.
I do like monkey fans too.
Don't think much to vivosun stuff from what I've seen.

I was looking at PC fans, but I really want something small that will oscillate. I do like the idea a lot of mounting the tower fan horizontally , I just am trying to think of a clever way that I could mount this to the side of the chamber and be able to still adjust it as the plants grow. I think a tower fan will take up less much space as well so I dug up an old one I had laying around and since it was black I also orca filmed around it just cause I had a nice small scrap peice laying around.

The fan I'm using is kind of weird and only has a small outlet slot. I am looking at this fan and since I have one now, am in no rush to get that fan but also wanted to see if anyone else had good advice a good brand, lasko from my experience is ehh I've had alot of their fans break on me. I do however like that it comes in white and the outlet slot is much bigger than the one I have and the overall fan itself looks a bit smaller

a picture of the seedlings , they were stretching fast because that fan died in one day probably was oscillating and bumping the side of the cabinet. Regardless, thats a pic of the fan I rigged up with some orca film and I'm ordering the air-stik soon to replace that ugly looking thing lol. Soon they're going to be ready for a transplant I will wait probably one more week and bury the stems down

the other picture are some plants I'm taking care of for some friends I thought it might be fun to add them in. The guy was only feeding the small one with beastie bloomz lol so i think it did something wacky to the leaves and they have an N deficit.
The big plant in the middle was lollipopped lol so it looks funny, but the guy was scared of mildew and bugs so I can see how that is justified. Now that the hurricane is over I will be returning them home soon though

Can't fit all these plants in my little chamber. I moved the clones into 5-gallon equivalent air-pots today. I also took the 11 copper chem beans I soaked overnight and planted them into the new pots.
In about a month I would like to either plant 6 more fem's or 11 more reg seeds. Not too sure about the timing and space factors but we will see! I am entering the GPW competition so I am keeping track of the amount of watts used right now.

I left the 288 r spec qb in the mini chamber for now. Perhaps I'll take the best one of these plants and transplant it and flip.

I am also really thinking about topping these down and doing either a manifold or 4-top method . I usually let the plants grow tall then flip and bend them one way instead of any fancy training techniques. Perhaps the smaller chamber would be a great way for me to get into it!

I still have to build a drain pan for the chamber and some sort of adjustable shelf for the fan.
I got my infrared thermometer finally in the mail and took a leaf temp

the leaves were 2degrees cooler than the air. I decided It will be good to have these under fluoros for a bit, its been getting a lot cooler out lately and It will hopefully keep the soil and leaves a little bit warmer for the babies. For easiness sake, I also turned on the Mars LEDS. I can't wait to do away with those they were fun to help me get into the idea of LEDS but I really wish I didn't waste my $$!!

I am planning on getting three of the 260W XL QB v2 Rspec LED kits.
or even going with 2 of those 260w XL kits and one of either the V1 or v2 kit's to save money and be able to get a 4k spectrum instead for my smaller tent

what do yall think about ordering these boards? I was going to get the 600w kit but it's sold out!

i just ordered the 4k 260w XL kit from HLG!!

first step in plan going. next upgrade ASAP is the 260w rspec XL kit.
after that i will be able to step up my flower game... for now I think veg needs some real attention !

I was torn between a bunch of rspec boards or going in on one or two 4k boards.. I finally decided on an xl kit. I will work this out later if need be and it if it bothers me..
I will most likely use this unit at 25% in flower or 50-100% in veg

plants already bouncing back nicely from the transplant.
seeing some new growth and thinking about topping these early for 2 or 4 main tops

It also looks like I might get 11/11 of the copper chem seeds to live through germination!!
my plan is to top the ECSDawg plants, then transplant again into very big containers, and then transplant the 11 seedlings into the 5 gallon equivalents air pots, then flower/sex them. At that point I may pop some more seeds and start doing a perpetual type grow. At some point I will need to clone these and label them so I can figure out whats a keeper

all 4 ECSD with my first topping attempt for four main colas. They are bouncing back very nicely! The new v2 4k 260w quantum board really rocks!
20190928_091216.jpg these copper chem seedlings are coming along nicely, about ready to transplant. 8/11 survived. Wish me luck on sexing! my plan is to transplant, not top, pop it in flower for two weeks . then back to veg. this should encourage them to reveal their sex before i transplant them again into an even bigger pot. They will end up spending a while in their next containers. Perhaps i will four top these as well too, not too sure though. I don't want these growing fast but I also want to figure the sex out ASAP. Perhaps I'll just pop some more beans!

20190928_091236.jpg 3/4 of the ECSDawg's came out with 4 branches growing almost equal after the top

20190928_091258.jpg this one has one runt branch. I may remove it to promote the 3 tops instead

Some odd mutation on one of the copper chems. These babies are rootbound and ready to go into bigger pots.. just had knee surgery so they will have to wait!

I spread out the canopy yesterday to help the less dominant branches catch up. Took zip ties and strung them right through the air pot holes :)
hoping to have a buddy help me transplant soon, I would hope in like 3-4 days. Did a very very light application of alg-a-mic and acti-vera using protekt as a surfacant. I figured they would like a little something something and i'm bored here. I cant remember the last time I foliar fed but perhaps it may help with the training. The plants are nice and pliable thanks to the protekt.

Next watering I will be starting cal-mag. No signs of copper spots like my last grows. This indicates it was indeed the chloramine or other shit in my tap water locking out cal-mag. Poland springs water is by no means the best to use and it's expensive to keep using. Any recommendations on this is appreciated! I am considering some sort of rain collector or maybe a local place to fill them cheaper than 7$/5gallons .

At this rate the water will cost more than the electricity, and i am not going to install a charcoal +RO filter to fix this unless i change to hydro..

Update!!!!
Things are transplanted and I've got my two new 320w XL v2 rspec's to go with my 240 XL v2 4k!
not sure wat to do with my last light I took it out for now. perhaps i will mount it right onto that 240xl frame and add a second driver to it :P

still waitin on my seeds from greenpoint. I messaged them today It says delivered but they're not here. Anyone have any idea where to start? I've used the same address over and over and never had an issue till now. I was really fucking hoping those GG4's would be here by now I wanted to start them but oh well.. as long as I get my seeds or something for all the money I spent!

Things are rolling for now. Any advice is appreciated (@coreywebster , @Renfro ) on light height and how to use a lux meter or just general light hanging height at minimum/maximum for the stage. Still looking into the best way to get cheap clean water without buying a big RO unit. I really think it was that damn chloramine screwing shit up, plants are looking super healthy! Thinking about some pondwater maybe with a big charcoal water filter or something along that line maybe even rainwater.

the 4k is turned up all the way and the two r specs are turned down all the way20191019_113014.jpg20191019_113040.jpg20191019_113052.jpg

I will be logging the progress of building my new chamber out of this air handler. I have some other ideas id like to build down the road into this chamber but for now it will be a simple soil grow chamber.
Materials:
-Bath fan~ 3" low cfm
-Small oscillating tower fan ~ need something very slim that will allow me to mount it up with my light to allow maximum foliage space. I need some help finding something very small that will give me a perfect intermittent breeze in a small area
-Quantum light~ I made a post over in the LED section with my dimensions to see what light will be best. I plan on getting the DIY kit.
-Pot~ superroots 40 liter air pot
-Drain pan~ gravity drain to be piped out of the cabinet and over to a bucket that i can dump into my garden
- Air intake filter~ this unit already has a 20x22 rack at the bottom. Perfect because the extraction fan is at the top
-Return and intake plenums~ return plenum will be the base, this will have a louver installed to help light trap the bottom of the unit. it will also put the chamber far enough off the ground to allow me to gravity drain into the bucket. Supply plenum will be big enough to accommodate the light, possibly the oscillating fan, and the exhaust fan.

~~future ideas~~
sealed micro hydro chamber
obstacles include air condition on a micro scale, dehumidification, and water chilling
I was hoping if i do hydro it will reduce the humidity down to enough that the air conditioning unit will keep the chamber dry enough. The problem is i have no idea how you would do air conditioning on such a small scale lol.. this is my end goal to build a fully sealed hydro micro chamber then after its perfected expand it.

here is a cutsheet on the different air handler cabinets. The one i have is the 36 but i will eventually get ahold of a 48 or a 60 and upgrade. This will be a prototype
http://www.republicsupplyco.com/SpecSheets/hbxb-hw.pdf

this chamber could be used to take clones, dry herb or just to force flower outdoor container pots as well. if i didnt want to invest in the grow lights. it could also be made into a mother chamber
pics would be nice

So the copper chem plant up above that had the weird fan leaf ended up doing some odd stuff. It threw out 1 main cola with two side branches on one of the first few nodes and those ended up dominating and it immediately started staggering nodes instead of being opposing. I took some pictures, and cut the two less dominant branches down. The tops of them had a huge group of leaves on them and wierd little leaves going up. The stems are completely hollow as well. I have confirmed 3 females for the copper chems so far, and am going to hopefully fit everything into my 5x5 for this group of plants. One of these may get to go into the 36hbxb for its flowering cycle if it grows bushy and shorter and I have to. I am using a 2x4 tent for the other 5 copper chems , having 8 in that 2x4 was way too packed and there wasnt enough airflow so the stems all stretched out.

My RO unit will be in next week and I ordered some pen cleaning/test kits to test my old pens. If they are junk I'll order new ones. I found a good deal A PPM pen with a PH pen from bluelab in a package with another cleaning/ test kit for like 130$. When I bought mine they were 100$ a peice, that was like 10 years ago.

I rinsed off the foliage today and took everything out for a tent cleaning, and did a big watering with water that had added calmag only.
I have been phing and using the nectar of the gods free sample line.
The 5x5 is on day 3 of 12/12. I am using a type of kelp spray that came with the nectar of the gods line to help keep the internodes a little bit tighter.20191108_080954.jpg20191108_081143.jpg20191108_081201.jpg20191108_081253.jpg20191108_093331.jpg20191108_093542.jpg

That copper chem ended up being a male with the hollow stems I killed it today.. As much as i would love making my own seeds, I will pheno hunt for now.. that may have been a really cool daddy plant but-- gotta focus on the herb output for now. things are lookin great. Update incoming with some cool fan leaf pix!
the copper chem sour diesel cross by gps has shown some very interesting leaves on one plant

last pic is after i took 6 of those plants out and put them into the 1st pic

the 1st pic is the 6 copper chem f1's from greenpoint in my 2x4 under my single 288 . two of them were killed this week cause they were males and one of them was the hollow stemmed one
the other pics are of my 5x5 before and after i removed the 6 copper chems.
the last pic is when I put the 4 x east coast sour dawg plants back in there after doing some LST to give a nice canopy spread. I think I may have less than a week of stretch left and thinking about dropping the lights a bit. Lots of stretching!

curious how close i can get my two 3x-288 rspec and one 2-288 4k
the one in the middle (2-288 4k on one heatsync) is all the way up (cause the knob is busted i think[working on a fix on this..]
and the one one the two sides are all the way down cause im scared of bleaching but want the heat from them
the height is 15" For the rspecs and 22" for the 4ks
