3 gal pots vs 5 gal or larger

Greetings RUI it's been a minute since my last post.
My question is for those of you who grow larger plants 3 gal+ pots under hid lights.
I have been running smaller plants and would like to do some larger plants to keep numbers down.
I have several 4x4s I am using and they are on rolling tables under air cooled hoods.
I have untill now kept a mother room, but might opt for Turning that into a veg room, flowering everything in there after a hefty 6-8 week veg.

I have a bunch of 20" plants I wish to flower and they are in 2 gal grow bags now, I have a bunch of 3 gal smart pots aswell and was planning on transplanting into them in the next day or so.
I'm only sort o worried about height as I can trellis them down some and avoid the burn.
Now my question is : would 5 gal pots have any advantage over the 3gal?
I have had some responses in the past about doing only a few 10-30 gallon pots In the room with + veg.
Please share your recipe if you don't mind I would love to hear anything Reguarding advice on 3+ gal grow shows.
Thanks for your time
Bless

If you want to go 5gal but are worried about the height buy some 5 gal rubbermaid totes and pop some holes in the bottom, they are nice and short as long as you have the floor space. If you are doing bigger plants I would reccomend 5 gal over 3 gal, even if you dont need the extra room its better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. That being said people grow some pretty nice plants out of 3 gallon containers so thats just my .02

I run 6 bloom & 6 veg from solo to 3gal to 10gal. I veg the entire bloom time 8-9 weeks. My bloom space 7x10 and the 6 plants pretty much fill it. Just had a huge harvest 3 plants had a 42" canopy with 30-35 colas, 1 was in a 40"x48" scrog with 50 plus colas, the last 2 weren't as big but the buds were. 6 plants, 5 lights totaling 3000w with a .764GPW. Yes, you heard it right 2294g dried in jars with RH between 56-63%. O'ya this was my 1st grow and I've been smiling so much my face hurts.IMG_1327.jpgIMG_1353.jpgIMG_1389.jpg

my 1st harvest in 3gal pots was 17.65zips with 7 plants under 600w and vegged for 8 weeks. my 2nd harvest was 23.25 zips in 5 gal nursery pots under 600w and vegged for 8/9 weeks. same soil, same nutes, same pant strains, and only 6 plants. same everything but pot size.

I have found that when growing in pots that there is a direct relationship to pot size to yield, I can expect between 3/4 to 1 1/4 O"s per gallon of medium.

I got mine at walmart, they were like 4 bucks each. I just drilled 8 5/16 holes in the bottom use the tote lid as a tray for underneath

I would go 5 gal. Bigger root mass forr Ur plants are almost always gonna give u better yield. And if u have the room do it!

I like to use bigger pots like 5 or 8 gallon and fill them up about 70-75% so then there is more room for my roots to grow outward rather then stretching and growing straight down. So far it seems to give me bushier plants and thicker roots, stems and branches. Give it a Shot !! Hope all goes well

Thanks for all replys guys.
I am doing most in 3 gals as I'm using flood trays on tables, I will do a few in 5 gals to compare.
Thx again

I like 5 gallon buckets b/c you don't have to irrigate as often. When I soak the medium it takes a week to dry out.
