I get on fine with 1.4ec fed every 2 hours to run off, what would increasing the ec achieve?
I'd expect burnt/unhealthy plants but maybe not?

I just want to ask, at what point is keeping the roots too wet gonna lead to rot? Clearly if they stay wet they won't have the salt stress...
I'm thinking I may use reverse osmosis as well, my water sources are either chlorinated or chocked full of metals and micros that I don't meant to deal with. I don't want chlorine to kill my innoculants. On that note salinity stress can probably be reduced with certain mycologicals. It applies to some field crops.

depending what your water is to start with 3 EC is not all that much. If you're starting with RO water it's a helluva lot. My tap water is around .8 EC, when I add nutes it's about 3 EC during peak flower.

3EC is 3EC regardless of the starting point.
yes but 3 EC of available nutrients doesn't equal 2 EC of nutrients + 1 EC of calcium bicarbonate and whatever else is in the tap water

I used to live somewhere with .1 EC tap water, and I moved somewhere with .8 EC tap water. I did not change the amount of nutes I add to my solution, thus my final solution has a higher EC than before, but I'm using the same amount of plant available nutrients.

Your leaves looks crispy? My EC is too high too and my leaves looks crispy

My plants fry at 2 EC, how people get to 3 EC and think everything is ok is beyond me. Never seen good product come from high feed grows, yields are good but flowers are trash. Just because your plant is still alive does not mean it is doing good.

I don't understand how they do it either, but I accept some of them at their word that their weed is killer. Somewhere between is reality probably. Who knows, but I do know I've seen plenty of healthy looking grows at Ecstatics above mine.

So since I'm now the Pgr boogie man, I should add that the boys I talk to running paclobutrazol are all high as shit on EC like that. I don't think quality was ever their goal. They don't flush at end either. So... Yea. Could just try smoking cumin.

EC is a measure of electrical conductivity and is indeed cumulative. It doesn't matter if it comes from table salt or epsom salt, a given EC results in the same osmotic pressure the plant must deal with. If too high, nute burn occurs because the plant cant pull water against the osmotic pressure.

If your starting EC is too high, that needs to be addressed. .3EC or lower is ideal.

That is why I grow my own, too many kooks out there pushing toxic trash. To each their own, some are chasing million dollar dreams and others produce quality product for the betterment of themselves and their custies.

Killer like probably give you cancer. If they don't care about high EC and how it degrades the plant, I'm sure they have no problem throwing toxic snake oil boosters, pesticides and fungicides up to day of harvest.

No they look the same as they always look.

It might not matter to your EC meter but it matters to the plant. If you give them 3 EC of soluble nitrogen they are gonna fry. If there is some magnesium bicarbonate or calcium bicarbonate bringing up your EC nothing is going to happen. I even give my veg plants the 3EC solution if I am lazy. The leaves get dark green but no tip burn.

This is why a nutrient company will tell you to measure nutrients on top of your tap water PPM, not including.

Anyways just sharing personal experience from my 10+ years of growing with tap water. Not interested in an argument. I would never suggest someone feed at 3EC. I got up to 3EC cause my plants kept asking for more.

I would have asked for my money back when they started touting flushing, let alone 3EC.. i run 1.5-1.7 start to finish.. but i am not a pro.

Maybe their environments dialed in enough to push that hard. Enough light, co2 and optimal vpd you can push pretty hard. Silly to judge commercial grows by the same standard as hobbyist or craft grows.
I look at it as medical grade vs don't give a fuck. Either one can happen at any level. Dialed in pushing max without compromising by using toxic pgrs or frying your flower is the way to go. Plenty of ways to get massive yields without placo, etc and overfeeding.

I’m doing soil and dry amendments now. Easy and it works. I just keep the environment in check and water.

So there is more to this story. Now my friend tells me that they are being told to clone in rockwool cubes with 3 ec. I've never done that, I can't say that it wouldn't work, but I very doubtful. I'm not sure if my friend is pulling my leg or not.
