You should figure out how to upload the pics the same way everyone else does. Having to link them all is a pain and probably going to get you less subscribers.

As pasta said, seeing you grow this out as a true LED would be awesome. I know a lot of people are really curious to see how well those things perform.

sfcali- dont listen to those telling you not to add the cfl. you need as much more wattage and lumens as you can get in there. tell them if they want to c a strictly led grow go to another journal where its already been done. im telling you from my experience that your end result wont b one worth having unless you get more light in there. i can tell how much time, money, and planning you have spent on this grow so dont cut your self short by not adding the extra lighting. trust me when i say this, LED dont produce enough in flower by themselves.

I know the LEDs alone arent going to be enough for flower. I want a good yeild with dense buds and I know adding cfls will definitely help me achieve the desired result. Does anyone have any recommendstions for some cfl fixtures that use standard size bulbs that hang and possibly retract? I want to use a standard socket and just let the bulbs dangle near the plants. I don't want a reflector or a ballast clogging up my space. I'd like to just be able to run a cord into the tent and hang the bulbs from the ceilng supports.

I would just buy the ones with the reflectors, and take them off, the clamps are removable or just leave them on. All you have to do to get the reflector off is, hold the porcelain ring by the light socket and the outer porcelain socket and twist.

Plus they are relatively inexpensive and you can keep the reflector for maybe a complete CFL grow.

I found the hanging sockets I was looking for. Does anyone have a good 6500k spiral cfl bulb recommendation? I was looking at a few different ge bulbs, but I know there are grow specific bulbs out there.

Can I ask you a question?

what is your ultimate goal in growing?
My goal is to perfect a growing process which will have decent yields of good bud. I would like to eventually have a staggered system where I can harvest a pound every few weeks. I got my CFL tube lamp today and I just need to hang it in the tent. The plants all look great today. There's no problems that I can see aside from lack of space. In the next week I'm going to top most of the plants and root the clippings in a tray of rapid rooter cubes. The GDP plants aren't stretching out wide like the other plants so I may leave them tall. BTW... I prefer not to host the pics on this site because the system has a lot of limitations. I can post larger, better quality images by linking to another host. New Pics below. The single plant pictures are of a Cheese plant that seems very healthy.

Right on...

Do you also want to get those "decent yields of good bud" at the lowest cost possible to you?

...

Now, at the risk of sounding senile... aging ain't for wimps... I apologize if I am repeating myself...:eyesmoke:

Have I shared with you or are you aware of Al B. Fuct's threads?

Get a harvest every 2 weeks

...

Another suggestion if I may...

Buy the right equipment the first time...

Upgrading is very expensive and wasteful...

A CFL set up will not help you achieve your goal... you should be deff. be thinking HID...

I like 4x air cooled 600s... My first was in a small tent, and it ROCKED!!!:hump:

Al uses 2x aircooled 1ks.. but we get about the same results... a pound every two weeks...

have you seen my op?

please do not tell me you expect to get a pound from this setup?? i hope you mean your eventual goal is to do all that. cause your not on the right track at the moment with the lighting. the other factors in your grow look like they are doing well and that you invested quality time in seting them up. but the lights are really going to hold you back from getting the harvest you really want. sorry if i sound like a broken record but im trying to save you from being disapointed like i was...

Maybe that was a bit ambitious. :eyesmoke: It's probably gonna be more like a 1/2 lb. I put the CFL lamp in there today and it throws a lot of white light. There are 2 55w 6500K tubes. I also transplanted the perpetrator clones into larger pots. I'll post more pics later.

Here's some pics. Look at the time stamps on the photos to follow the timeline.

BTW, the temps were upper 80's F over the weekend in the tent with the addition of the CFL lamp. The plants seem to be okay and don't look burned or dry at all. The plants themselves are throwing off a lot of heat now that they are getting pretty big. I've got a couple small 4" inline 100 cfm fans on the way which should bring in some fresh cool air from the hallway which is about 65-70 degrees F. Once I get the intake fans rigged up, I'm going to trim the plants and start some new clones. The perpetrator clones seem to be doing okay with the 900 ppm nutrient solution.

hey sfcali- if you want 2 more of those UFOs ill hook u up on them
I'm good on LED's for right now. I trimmed two of the perpetrator plants and came up with 8 more clippings which I'm going to try to root and eventually these will be part of my next batch of plants. I've attached more pictures. The CFL lamp is raising the temps in the tent, but I've got the fans blowing up on the light and it's helping a bit. All of the plants are showing new growth since the introduction of the CFL lamp. Most of the big plants are pointing towards the CFL lamp.

Yesterday I flushed the system and took a bunch of pics. I also clipped a lot of the lower branches from all the plants. Unfortunately, when I was cutting some of the lower branches off one of the GDP plants the main stem broke. It didn't completely break off, but it's hanging by a thread. I put some supports on the plant and I'm hoping it will heal. Anyone have advice for helping the plant heal faster?

I decided that the CFL lamp emits too much heat for my setup right now so I'm running only the LED UFO's till next week when my intake fans arrive. I've got the nutrients set at 650 ppm and I'll gradually increase them back to 900-1000 ppm over the next 7-10 days. Here's some pics:

I'm going to install the intake fans when they arrive this week. Has anyone tried using dry ice for c02? I'm thinking it may help lower the temps as well as giving fresh c02 for the growth.

I hear it doesn't last nearly long enough to be worth the trouble. It's temp is so cold that even in your freezer it's gonna disappear on you forcing you to have to go out and buy more constantly.

That's just what I've heard, so take it for what's it worth.
