My 2nd Time trying with CFL's... First setup was gorgeous (straight outta SeeMore Buds book, with creative variations), but circumstances beyond my control got the 5-0 involved ...had 16 clones going, going...gone.

Trying again now, got 2 42 Watt 2700K's going right now, on day 19 from the seeds cracking...Got a little ahead of myself and gave them only 18-20 hrs of light per day from day 8...

A GHETTO setup in my closet, just hanging lights from my clothesrack at the moment, adding more lights tomorrow

1 is AK-47 (the bigger one), and the smaller one is El Nino.

looks nice and healthy. you should get some daylight bulbs i think they are like 6000k
Ya, i've been reading about those... they emit more of a blue light, correct? I can't seem to find those at places like Wal-Mart, True-Value, etc... im in canada, maybe thats why?

Is it even possible to grow them from seed to Finish with just 2700k's? or will i NEED the 6000k's?

:::EDIT::: I just read the post about 3 below this one... lotsa good info for people with the same question! 6500k lights will produce better quality, smoother buds. One thing though, Would it be beneficial to just add in a few, or replace all my lights with 6500k's when the time comes to switch to flowering (i say, in a bout a week)

Hey man the plants are looking really good, if you just added in a couple of 6500k bulbs with your 2700k ones it will work just fine.

from personal experince i like all blue for 6000-6700k for veg and when you wanna flower 90% soft white 2000k-2700k and few or 10% blue just for a little add to the spectrum I had a few blue on my first mostly by accident during flower of my first cfl grow a few years back and have since so i couldnt give you a comparison with the flowering thing but i like a little blue during flowering just seems natrual
but any ways your plants WILL grow obliviously under soft white during veg and will to through flower so the neccesatity level isnt extremely high but i would still recommend it
and I am not sure on your options in canada Homedepot? lol but worse comes to worse ebay and few cfl internet companies have some decent deals
oh and i fer sure would add more 42 watts in there for flowering
hopes this helps :blsmoke:

P.S subscribed.
and the grow looks great btw
what brand and or mixtures of soil are you using if you dont mind?

I've been using schultz' something or other, i don't remember right now lol... mixed in with a walmart brand of soil. I've switched one of the lights out for the bluer spectrum, but they don't really look too spectacular as of right now. I still need a few more lights, still need to complete my "fixture"... I'm planning on mounting 2x4's around the perimeter of my closet, 3 light sockets on each end wall, 4 or 5 on the back wall, as well as a hanging fixture.

I hope to have it to perfection by next grow.

Also, got a clone from my mommy lol... literally. She brought me over a Willies Wonder, so i've been throwing it in with these 2, and i bring it to my kitchen, under the stove when its lights out.

P.S. I cloned 2 off of each a little early, i STILL don't clearly know the sex of either... But i did it the"underwater" way, as i didn't have cloning powder. I simply cut the branch off, and stuck it in a cup of water right away, submerging the first set of nodes. Cut them off underwater, and immediately place it in your cup of soil... took me 9 days to get some growth!

just to get right... two 60w cfls =one 400w hps or mh; and 2000k-2700k is the (Red spectrum), and 6000k-6700k is the (blue spectrum) correct...? even in cfl bulbs...?

my grower friends keep telling me there's no way around getting an hps light for veg because cfls don't penetrate enough for flowering, but in theory when I look at lumins and spectrums of the cfl bulbs it seems as if two 60w-75w cfl bulbs that are 2000k-2700k(flowering) or 6000k-6700k(veg) can do the exact same thing as mh or hps... so somebody plz weigh in on this

i have been reading that CFL are actually SOMEWHAT more beneficaial than an HPS because you can get them right in there, like 3 CM away from yer buds, without running the risks of burning them... with HPS, its gotta be set a certain height away from the plants, feet sometimes, or you'll burn the tops...

But again, HPS are way more powerful, not too sure on the spectrum's power with them, but guaranteed they are much stronger than any CFL
