Ijust wanted to know if this was enough light for 8-9 plants

During veg iwas going to use a 250 watt MH
During flowering i was going to use 400 watt hps

Is this enough?

I'd say yes, indefinitely.

As long as you flower the plants before they get too big (at around 12"-18") the MH is sufficient. As for flowering, assuming half are male and half female, 400w will cover 4 plants easy. You might yield a bit more with higher wattage, but you'll still do a hell of a lot better with a 400w than a bunch of CFL's or flouro's.

I disagree. Don't put two furnaces in your closet and then worry about venting. Check out t-5's and nowstopwinings post on led's before your final decision. Check how SeeMoreBuds grew 8oz from three plants using 8 42 watt cfl's for less than $!00. He did get lucky with a female seedling, the other two were clones, point is don't create the heat you won't have to deal with it. Folks need to do a little research. Its like putting in a 60% efficient furnace. We haven't done that since the late 70's. VV
