i found this on yahoo answers that might help makes thing more simple to understand.....

In the day plants use Carbon Dioxide ie. CO2 during photosynthesis, whereas during the night they use Oxygen and release CO2 - respiration - which is why some people often said not to have plants in their bedrooms at night, due to the CO2 being released whilst Oxygen was taken up. Humans need Oxygen, in order to live, and respire.

So, your question was do plants sleep? They are always active, as long as temperatures are appropriate and there is CO2 or Oxygen available, depending on whether they are in the daytime or at night, it's just that these slightly different processes are going on. Animals such as ourselves continue to breathe and use energy in the same way at night as during the day, though our brains are undergoing different states of consciousness.

Plants remain with their awareness of what's going on all the time, responding accordingly, so you can draw your own conclusions from this information. Whilst we don't know much about plant psychology our best guess is that plants don't sleep, they merely continue living, using up their stored energy reserves. It would be fun to get into the 'mind' of a plant, but it's likely that as they're straightforward chemical structures that they may not have the human/animal powers that we may like to believe they have.

Shit I may be wrong who cares plants need the 6 hours of dark to do whatever plants do at night and untill you talk to a plant and ask it if it sleeps plz go fuck yourself!

lets break this down even more simple....here is just the word alone since we are getting confused on terminology....

Sleep is a naturally recurring state characterized by reduced or absent consciousness, relatively suspended sensory activity
plants are active and conscious of their surroundings 24 hours a day.the only slight difference between night and day for them is the processes in which they are doing.the term "sleep" is a loosely given term to explain its processes at night.going by the word sleep by itself...a plant does not have the proper equipment to truly sleep.and as for posting links....a lot of this information comes from those things called books...kinda like a computer...but more thinking and less porn.this is stuff that should have been learned in high school

I dont think im wrong one bit, its something I really would like to know. I even just now found more evidence that supports my theory but its worthless to post.

I do see the picture of the doll you have there how old are you? I remember when my little sister played with them.

i think i found some of his sources....if you do a search for "do plants sleep" this is the first site as you go through them that has that in the title....notice at the top...projects by students for students....http://library.thinkquest.org/3715/photo3.html

"Do plants sleep? Yes. At night time, plants can not make food, so they shut down by closing their stomata"...wasnt that is original claim?..first line of the page

but you do have to love the great pics they show you...such detail...they are cute

this statement is actually flase! During the lights off period the plant is not sleeping but infact working more than it did wit the lights on!...the only time a plant 'sleeps' is right after it rains and the ground is leached....hence why some of us on here practice the 'making it rain' technique...but just cause the lights are off doesnt mean the plant is sleeping...some ppl like to think of plants to b alike as humans and that is false. The dark period is an active period where the plant uses the energy gained during the lights on period
can you fit them in your mouth?

At least I got you to say plants do sleep.
