It's wet and muggy, looks like we'll see how the ladies handle it. Normally, I like my ladies hot & wet.... but in this case, I'm already twisting my junk. And not in a pleasurable way.

Yeah. I meant I don't worry a lot about bugs eating some leaf. Fungus is the big issue.

The breeze here has been a lifesaver.

After the groundhog mowed them down to stumps the four that survived got a bad case of mites. It looks like they are starting to take off now that
the mites are cleared up for the most part. They are in 7 gallons of ProMix and getting a mix of some old DynaGro and H&G Cocos I had laying around.
I don't feel like watering twice a day so I may pot up if they really take off. They were getting watered every three days until this heat wave, now once every morning with an EC of 1/3 the normal rate.

Well now I've a better understanding of how copper works. It actually penatrates the flesh of the leaf, destroying, of course, the microbes.
The Farmers used to call it Bluestone. A standard formula would be 4-4-50. 4 lbs copper, 4 pounds lime as a binder, 50 gallons of water. The formula is tweaked accordingly.

Watered at 7:00 this morning and had to do it again by 1:00. Heat and SW wind dried them out quickly.

PM still only at minor nuisance stage, if it becomes more systemic I’ll take more drastic action. Am seeing a few caterpillars but the B.t. is zapping most of them.

I hate woodchucks. They do climb trees by the way. Shot one out of a tree the other day. They especially destroy pumpkins and squash. My dog is no scrapper but he'll get one up a tree.

Back when the now 13 year old Minister of State Security (seen here on her birthday two weeks ago) was a year old lass, I was over having a beer with the neighbors when they asked me if I’d seen the woodchuck? I said no I hadn’t.

Well, I met the woodchuck a few days later. She was eating it.

My new issue this season, being a deck grow, pertains to dastardly little SOB chipmunks digging in my pots. Funny they never touched the 45 gallon pots last year. Rodents be advised… Victory shall be mine! Lol

Thanks PVOG… I’ve been reading up on deterrents. They run from a “bed of nails” option straight out of a Rambo movie… Think pit with bamboo shoots (skewers in my case) in the ground pointing up! Lol… to mothballs, to cayenne pepper. Are you suggesting cups of straight tap water outside the pot or sitting right in the pot?

My dog is a GS too. A female and not a scrapper which is okay since she has to get along with other animals and I don't want her tearing into sick raccoons and such--seems to be a lot.of them here. Used to have a shepherd though that had little tolerance for intruders. No problem eating wood chuck meat either.

I'll look for a link to post you'll see an example. I just filled solo clear cups with water and circled the top of the pot... that was to keep a cat or a coon from crappping in my 45 gal repeatedly. Worked great. Skewers seem a little overkill, perhaps water is more humane, although chipmunks are amazing creatures. I ha e a box of cheerios that went stale, and toss a handful everyday, they love it.
On to my issues, lol. My crappy clip on magnifier was located as I now found some rot on lower level of my Grape. I'm not fucking around, I'm pulling her... here's some pics of the trikes, tried to get the calyx, one lower shot showed a little clear, but for the definite majority, I'm looking at cloudy, some enhanced, better the pure shot I think k

Ever tried the smoke bombs? On the farm we had these smoke bombs we'd get from the local farmers supply. You'd close up one end, pop smoke in t'other, and stand by with ye old bangstick, in case one happened to escape.

I've used them but not sure how safe they are. Also the issue of plugging all escape routes. More likely to use a live trap these days.
